Obama nominee REJECTED by Senate

Well now, this is a first. The Democrat controlled senate, ruled by the most corrupt Senate Majority Leader in American history, rejected Obama’s choice to head the Civil Rights division in the Department of Justice.

Since Dingy Harry Reid nuked the filibuster, the Progressive Liberal Democrats have been ramming through one hard left nominee after the other. This time, King Putt sent up a nominee so bad, even with Reid’s attempt to twist arms, enough Democrats decided to disapprove the nomination. Here are the details from Fox News:

Senate Democrats failed to muster enough support to push a controversial Justice Department nominee past a key test vote on Wednesday, leaving the nomination stalled amid bipartisan concerns about his past work on behalf of convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal. The nomination of Debo Adegbile for head of the Civil Rights Division was blocked, on a 47-52 vote.

DOIJ

The Civil Rights Division has not been covering itself in glory since, oh…2009 when they threw away a case against the Black Panthers that they had already won. From what I’ve been reading, this Adegbile clown would fit right in with the current thinking in the Department of InJustice.

Adegbile needed just 51 senators to support him in order to advance to a final vote. In anticipation of a tight vote, Vice President Biden even attended in case he was needed by his Democratic colleagues to break a tie. But it did not get to that point, as a total of seven Democrats peeled off, joining a nearly united Republican opposition.

Nearly united Republican opposition? I want to know who the idiot(s) were that thought letting this clod into a manage Civil Rights cases was a good idea? Now one of the reasons, probably the main reason for all the opposition was Adegbile support for convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

At issue is Adegbile’s work with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund on behalf of Abu-Jamal. Perhaps America’s most well-known cop killer, he was convicted for the 1981 murder of Philadelphia officer Daniel Faulkner. The case has attracted celebrity and media attention for decades, amid claims that Abu-Jamal faced racial discrimination. Abu-Jamal’s death sentence was eventually overturned, but his conviction stands.

Along the way, Adegbile and the Legal Defense Fund got involved in the case, filing briefs and appeals on his behalf. Adegbile’s involvement came after Abu-Jamal’s death sentence was overturned and after the Legal Defense Fund first began working with the defendant. Adegbile’s defenders argue that he was obligated to work on the case since the Legal Defense Fund had already accepted him as a client. And they argue that defending unpopular clients is just part of the legal profession.

From what I’ve seen elsewhere, this wasn’t a case of a lawyer being brought in to work with a client, this joker went beyond that and was using the case for political reasons. Think Hillary Rodham and why she was fired from the Watergate committee.

Republicans and law enforcement groups like the Fraternal Order of Police were staunchly opposed. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., questioned Tuesday whether Adegbile could be counted on to advocate for the civil rights “of all Americans,” if confirmed to the post of Civil Rights Division director.

I think the answer to this question is an emphatic NYET! NO! One of the problems with the Civil Rights Division is their pretty blatant refusal to go after anyone except for white people for violating civil rights. The recent rise of the so called “Knock Out Game” is pretty much proof of that. Almost all the perpetrators have been black and the victims white. In many cases, there is hard proof via videos and sound recordings of these thugs choosing their targets solely on the basis of their skin color. The one white thug that I’m aware of who went after a man who was black is the only civil rights case that I know of, and there may be some question on that.

Adegbile is the first Obama nominee to fail on a Senate test vote since Democrats pushed through changes that allow certain nominees to clear that hurdle with a simple majority, as opposed to the customary 60 votes.

And boy was Dingy Harry Reid angry about that! According to the Washington Times:

A furious Mr. Reid hinted that Republicans’ opposition was based on racism, pointing to to several other black nominees that GOP senators had opposed earlier. But in the case of Mr. Adegbile, his defense of Abu-Jamal was too much for even some Democrats.

“Maybe it’s time that America had a good discussion on civil rights,” Mr. Reid fumed.

wambulance

You know, Harry may be right, considering how he and the Progressive Liberal Democrats have been working overtime to suppress the civil rights of everyone they don’t like.

Mr. Reid, though, said Republicans’ opposition was based on worries that Mr. Adegbile would be too effective at the Justice Department. He accused the GOP of trying to limit voting rights, and said Mr. Adegbile had distinguished himself on those issues.

violinist

Glass houses, stones, etc, Mr. Reid. The problem is that this putz, like pretty much every single nominee to anything put forward by the Progressive Liberal Democrats have been generally incompetent or so politically biased that they have caused severe damage to the agencies they head. This isn’t to say the Republicans are without sin in this, they too have put a few real boneheads into jobs they really shouldn’t have been given. (Can we say “Hell of a job there Brownie!”? Sure we can!)

Whoever the next president is, unless America is stupid enough to put that craven, power mad shrew into office, they are going to have a lot of work finding good people to clean out the mess we have now. Compared to what they will have to do, Hercules had it easy with the Augean Stables.
