Good day all. About a week ago, I wrote a post commenting on the plans to “investigate” the Energy companies on their sin of denying Man Caused Climate Change. (Formally called Man Caused Global Warming)
Almost as soon as the announcement by all the Democrat Attornys-General that they were going to initiate the Holy Inquisition investigation into climate denial, people started thinking that there was something very fishy about this.
Right off the bat, it was a blatant assault on the free speech rights of the corporations. Well guess what? There has been collusion between the AG’s and the assorted moonbats from various Envirowhacko groups. Here are some details from Fox News:
State Democratic officials are facing mounting accusations they secretly coordinated with climate activists to investigate whether ExxonMobil hid the truth about global warming, as new documents show the collaboration went deeper than previously thought. Emails obtained and released by the Energy & Environment Legal Institute show a number of state attorneys general and their staff received advice and guidance from environmental activists at a March 29 meeting in New York, on the same day as a major press conference.
Interesting. The Democrats are actually engaging in what they are accusing the oil companies of doing. Suppressing dissent in regards to something that they don’t like.
The meeting included a presentation by Peter Frumhoff of the Union of Concerned Scientists on the “imperative of taking action now on climate change.” Matt Pawa, who litigated against Exxon in a global warming case, was also in attendance, giving a presentation regarding climate change litigation to the AGs and their staff.
Oh joy, the moonbats from the Union of Communist Scientists. That pack of frauds has been out to destroy the western world for decades. The one thing they are not, is scientists.
The emails suggest a degree of secrecy surrounding the meeting. One email chain shows Pawa asking Lemuel Srolovic, chief of New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s Environmental Protection Bureau, if he can confirm his attendance to a Wall Street Journal reporter. Srolovic requests he not do so.
“My ask is if you speak to the reporter, to not confirm you attended or otherwise discuss the event,” Srolovic wrote.
Gee, nothing says open discussions and debates like hiding your meeting just like the Mafia. It appears that the attempt by the moonbats to hide their meeting went about as well as the Mafia’s Apalachin Meeting did back in 1957.
Another email chain shows Srolovic and Scott Kline, a Vermont assistant attorney general, even drawing up a Common Interest Agreement, in order to protect as privileged the discussions at the meeting. The meeting occurred the same day as a press conference featuring former Vice President Al Gore where 17 attorneys general announced a coalition to more aggressively target oil companies they claim have deceived the public over the risks of climate change.
Oooh! I smell a conspiracy, and I’m not the only one. ExxonMobile, the primary target of this inquisition, is fighting back.
As more emails are released, Exxon is striking back.
“These revelations from the meeting in January, and now these emails, show that there is a lot of collaboration, collusion, conspiracy — pick a word — that shows these groups and trial lawyers working together to attack a company that has 75,000 employees and millions of shareholders,” Alan Jeffers, media relations manager for ExxonMobil told FoxNews.com. “That’s who these people are attacking, these employees and shareholders who benefit when the company does well.”
“In the end, it seems the only parties that may be breaking the law are those colluding AGs in their scheme to silence political opposition, while seeking funds for their preferred policy agenda,” Chris Horner, an attorney who obtained the email records for the E&E Legal Institute and whose own group was targeted with a subpoena, wrote in a FoxNews.com op-ed.
I can just see the corporate lawyers salivating at a court case with the various AG’s. The last thing the followers of the Church of Global Warming Climate Change, (Algore Akbar!), want is any sort of evidence coming out and what a complete fraud the Global Warming and Climate Change “science” actually is. As for the AG’s? They’re both denying they’ve done anything wrong, and are doubling down on their totalitarian suppression of free speech.
A spokesman for the New York Attorney General’s office denied any accusation of collusion.
“The office routinely collaborates with other states and receives input from outside organizations. Ultimately, decisions on which cases we pursue are based solely on the merits and the law—and nothing else,” Matt Mittenthal told FoxNews.com in an email.
Schneiderman has indicated ExxonMobil is not the only energy company in his office’s crosshairs, vowing to prosecute any that committed fraud to maximize profit at the public’s expense “to the fullest extent of the law.”
Schneiderman, New York’s Attorney General, is considered by many to be nothing more than another corrupt hack only interested in promoting himself. Currently, he’s going after Governor Andrew Coumo, who, lets face it, is making it easy for him.
I have no doubt that Schneiderman is eying the governors chair for himself. He sees going after the oil companies as his ticket to the Governors office in a few years. In that, he will just be one in a long line of NY AG’s who have ruined an industry or company for their own political gain. Meanwhile, ExxonMobile is challenging the subpena for their records.
ExxonMobil last week issued a challenge to a subpoena issued by the Virgin Islands, calling it unwarranted and an attack on ExxonMobil’s freedom of speech.
And that is exactly what it is. The goal of the left is to suppress any speech that goes against their orthodoxy and always has been. For years they’ve been getting their way, but now people, and businesses are fighting back. The biggest case currently would be the lawsuit by Ecuador against Chevron Oil. Instead of settling, Chevron fought back.
What came out of the case was nothing less than a plan by lawyers to loot the company for their own personal gain. Bribed judges, falsified documents, and I think some lawyers looking at disbarment and criminal charges. (I haven’t followed the case all that much. Follow the link provided if you like)
The AG’s may think they will force a settlement, not unlike the one against the tobacco companies. As I recall, there was actual collusion to hide the effect of smoking by them, and we have known that smoking is bad for you for almost a century. (Real research with long term followup, not like the garbage being generated by Climate Change believers)
If this actually ends up in a courtroom, sit back and watch all the political careers of any number of State Attorneys-General implode. The Energy companies have a lot of money, and after Chevron, are in no mood to give in to the blatant extortion by the Progressive Liberal Fascist Democrats and the followers of the new religion, Climate Change.
