Sanders, thy name is incompetent

Good day all. The title of this post, “Sanders, thy name is incompetent,” would normally make you think this is about Comrade Bernie Sanders. No, this one is about his wife, Brun Hilda Jane Sanders and how she ran a collage right into the ground.

Our story begins in that bucolic Moonbat city of Burlington, Vermont. There was a small collage there named Burlington Collage. Today, thanks to Jane Sanders stupefying incompetence, has announced that it is closing its doors FOREVER! Here are the details from the Washington Post:

Burlington College, a small Vermont private school once led by the wife of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, said Monday it will close later this month, citing “the crushing weight” of debt incurred during her presidency.

shocked-face

The college, which enrolled 224 students as of fall 2014, said it faced financial troubles connected to its 2010 purchase of 32 acres of lakefront property from the Diocese of Burlington, according to the Burlington Free Press. The college said it had sold property to reduce its debt to a manageable level, but it was placed on probation in 2014 by its accrediting agency and it faced cash flow problems due to the imminent loss of a line of credit.

I recall reading about this mess when Comrade Bernie announced his bid for the Oval Office. Apparently, there were some questions on the loan Comrade Mrs. Sanders arranged to buy the property in question. According to the story in the Daily Caller:

Documents obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation indicate that the wife of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders may have been able to use her clout to get away with loan fraud, nearly bankrupting the small college she was president of and collecting a sizable severance package in the process.

FYI, this story was written by Blake Neff and Peter Fricke on March 26th, 2015, so it has been kicking around for a while.

Jane Sanders was the president of tiny Burlington College in Burlington, Vermont for seven years, from 2004 until 2011. During her tenure, Sanders masterminded an ambitious expansion plan that would have more than doubled the size of the school. To do so, she had the college take on $10 million in debt to finance the purchase of a new, far more expansive campus. The move backfired massively, leading to Sanders’ departure from the college and the near-collapse of the institution.

Well, I can see why this was a “Match made in Moscow.” Comrade Mr. & Mrs. Sanders both have issues with mathematics. The story goes into all sorts of interesting details on how Jane Sanders raised the money for the land purchase. Eventually, someone caught on and it seems Comrade Mrs. Sanders was invited to seek other opportunities elsewhere.

On Sep. 26, 2011, less than a year after orchestrating the property purchase and with two years remaining in her contract, Jane Sanders abruptly resigned as president of Burlington College.

Few expected her resignation, though, until about a week before Sanders stepped down, when reporters learned of a special meeting of Burlington’s Board of Trustees to discuss her removal. Possibly hastened by the leak, Sanders’ lawyers and the college reached a settlement several days later under which Sanders collected a roughly $200,000 severance package.

triple facepalm

And now, the collage she ran into the ground is closing. Getting back to the Washington Post story:

The school’s website describes the college as “a small, creative, private liberal arts institution located in Burlington, Vermont on the shore of Lake Champlain. The College has been recognized as having the most free-spirited students in one of the healthiest states in the country.”

eye roll

The collage was started in 1972 and to be honest, until the original story in the Daily Caller, I had never heard of it, and the Anger Central main office isn’t that far away from Burlington, VT.

Known then as the Vermont Institute of Community Involvement, the school was dedicated to integrating learning, personal development, and engagement in the community into a comprehensive educational experience.”

Barking Moonbat

Uh huh.

She stepped down in 2011 amid a dispute with the college’s board. After her husband launched his presidential campaign, news stories emerged that scrutinized her role in a loan application for the lakefront real-estate purchase. Jane Sanders has dismissed those stories as politically motivated and said the issue was not a factor in her departure from the college.

Yeah, right, and I have some lake front property in Vermont you might like to buy. Oh wait! You already did, didn’t you? And now, the collage is closing it’s doors, once again demonstrating that socialists should not be trusted with any responsibilities, let alone financial responsibilities, at all. I wonder what all the students who were still enrolled will do now? Will they even get their tuition back? Will their credits be transferable to a real collage, like Umass Asshole Amherst? Perhaps they will become good friends with Trigglypuff.

The Angry Webmaster seems to differ with the WP over the spelling of “college.”
