Trump’s Gettysburg address

“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

This was the opening of the Gettysburg Address written by Abraham Lincoln 153 years ago when he was dedicating the cemetery where the dead from both sides of the Battle of Gettysburg were buried. Gettysburg is considered the turning point in the American Civil War, the defeat of the Confederate States of America and the end of slavery in the United States.

Saturday, October 22, Donald Trump gave his Gettysburg Address where he laid out his plans to once again, free the slaves. In this case, the slaves are every American irregardless of skin color and the slave holder is the United States Government. Here are some of the details, along with Trump’s plan for the first 100 days of his administration from the Daily Mail:

Donald Trump planted a flag on hallowed ground Saturday morning by laying out near the Gettysburg National Battlefield what he would do in his first 100 days as President of the United States. Touting ‘the kind of change that only arrives once in a lifetime,’ Trump told an audience of about 300 invited guests that he will ‘drain the swamp’ in Washington, replacing the current government ‘with a new government of, by and for the people.’

The Republican nominee left the podium and made a beeline in his motorcade for the National Military Park – the battlefield memorial – spending about as much time there as it took Lincoln to speak his 272 words.

And people say Trump has no interest in tradition?

He summed up the substance of his campaign in a ‘Contract With The American Voter’ – a point-by-point set of initiatives that track with the themes he has focused on for 16 months.

And here is Donald Trump’s plan. You can see his adviser, Newt Gingrich’s hand in it.

  • FIRST, propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress;
  • SECOND, a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health);
  • THIRD, a requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated;
  • FOURTH, a 5 year ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service;
  • FIFTH, a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government;
  • SIXTH, a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.

On the same day, I will begin taking the following 7 actions to protect American workers:

  • FIRST, I will announce my intention to renegotiate NAFTA or withdraw from the deal under Article 2205
  • SECOND, I will announce our withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership
  • THIRD, I will direct my Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator
  • FOURTH, I will direct the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative to identify all foreign trading abuses that unfairly impact American workers and direct them to use every tool under American and international law to end those abuses immediately
  • FIFTH, I will lift the restrictions on the production of $50 trillion dollars’ worth of job-producing American energy reserves, including shale, oil, natural gas and clean coal.
  • SIXTH, lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward
  • SEVENTH, cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America’s water and environmental infrastructure

Then Trump gets really serious.

  • FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama
  • SECOND, begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the 20 judges on my list, who will uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States
  • THIRD, cancel all federal funding to Sanctuary Cities
  • FOURTH, begin removing the more than 2 million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancel visas to foreign countries that won’t take them back
  • FIFTH, suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered extreme vetting.

Trump-Great

There’s a lot more and I recommend reading the .pdf file. Some of this, perhaps a lot of it will require congressional action. The amendment to limit terms of congress? There is no way they will pass that no matter how popular it may be. However, if President Trump wants to push it, he can go to the states and request an Article V convention of the states to bypass congress.

Canceling Obama’s Executive orders, most of which are flat out illegal is a good start and easy to do. There might actually be a couple that are worthwhile, and I’m fairly sure those will remain. However, President Trump shouldn’t stop with just Obama’s orders. There are others going back who knows how far that should be revoked.

Compare this with Hillary Clinton. She is dead opposite of Trump’s plans. She want to throw open the border even wider than it is now. She will shut down any industry that, frankly, doesn’t pay her protection money, and she has already said she will bring in hundreds of thousands of potential Islamic terrorists with absolutely no vetting whatsoever.

The choice is yours America. Freedom or slavery. Donald Trump wants to tear down the Beltway Plantation, and Hillary Clinton wants you to fan her and serve her and her overseers mint juleps.
