Good day all. Now that Donald Trump is in office, people are looking at who he will nominate to replace the late justice Antonin Scalia. When Scalia passed away suddenly, it threw the Republicans into a panic.
The reason for the panic was Barack Obama. This would give him the chance to flip the Supreme Court to the hard left and basically end the constitutional rights of anyone who disagreed with the Progressives. However, there was one small issue for Obama. The Senate had turned Republican and Senate Majority leader Mitch “The Turtle” McConnell wasn’t about to let Obama put yet another progressive on the bench.
Obama put forward Merrick Garland as his choice to replace Scalia. Garland is currently a judge on the D.C. circuit court of appeals. When he was nominated, people started looking into his rulings and his writings and didn’t like what they saw. To begin with, Garland never met a regulation he didn’t like if it favored the government, and he was not fond of the 2nd Amendment. Because of this, McConnell sat on the appointment and wouldn’t let hearings be held on Garland. As it turns out, McConnell was correct in his decision.
Now we have President Trump, and he’s been looking at good people to replace Justice Scalia. Some of the names that have been floated have made Conservatives and constitutionalists rather happy and Progressive Liberal Democrats stark raving bonkers. Now the Progressives Democrats in the senate are gearing up to “Stop Trump’s Nominee!!” Here are the details from the New York Slime Times:
Democrats and their allies remain furious that Senate Republicans refused to even consider Judge Garland, President Barack Obama’s nominee to the high court, with 10 months remaining in Mr. Obama’s second term. That deep resentment is certain to color their handling of Mr. Trump’s choice just as it has contributed to their resistance to moving quickly on Mr. Trump’s cabinet selections.
All indications are that they see the forthcoming nomination as a chance to take a strong stand against the new president, since they still have the power to filibuster a Supreme Court choice — at least for now.
Well now, about that filibuster. To paraphrase Barack Obama, “If you like your filibuster, you can keep your filibuster.” Right up until Mitch McConnell channels former majority leader Dingy Harry Reid and nukes it.
Top Democrats say they don’t intend to play “tit for tat” with the nomination. But they say they will insist on what they consider to be a mainstream candidate capable of securing at least the 60 votes needed to thwart any filibuster. Otherwise, they promise to do whatever they can to block the nominee.
“We are not going to do what the Republicans did,” said Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader, “but if the candidate’s out of the mainstream, I can tell you I will fight and my caucus will fight tooth and nail against them.”
For UpChuck Schumer and the rest of the totalitarian Progressive Democrats, their idea of a “Mainstream” nominee for the Supreme Court is one who considers the Constitution to be an obsolete document that is no longer valid in today’s world, and that it should be “interpreted” right out of existence.
The New York Slime Times takes a while to come out and say what the results will be for UpChuck and the rest of the Hitler Youth Progressive Democrats. That thanks to the previous majority leader, the precedent for doing away with the filibuster is now on the table, and that the Democrats don’t have a leg to stand on. Whoever is Trump’s choice, he or she will be the next associate justice of the United States Supreme Court.
In addition, there may be as many three more justices who will either retire or die, and this will allow Trump to crush the progressives alternate means of tyranny once and for all. There are way to many judges, primarily on the left, who think that they should be the ones who make law, and that the Constitution doesn’t mean what it says. For decades, the progressive Democrats, knowing that most people don’t agree with what they want, used the courts to bypass congress and impose, by judicial fiat, their progressive, totalitarian agenda. Now things have changed and the progressives are seeing the writing on the wall. All that I can say to them is…
