Good day all. It’s no secret that President Trump intends to reign in the out of control bureaucracy. This has, as expected, caused the bureaucrats to go off the deep end. President Trump has already issued an order that for every new rule that is created, 2 have to be repealed.
Last Friday, (February 24th), President Trump signed a new order that creates a task force in each agency dedicated in removing red tape. Here are the details from the Washington Times:
President Trump on Friday signed another executive order aimed at reducing federal regulations, this time directing all government agencies to form a “regulatory reform task force” that will identify unneeded red tape and remove it. In brief comments in the Oval Office, the president said each task force will report back to the White House “every once in a while” with their findings.
“Each task force will make recommendations to repeal or simplify existing regulations,” Mr. Trump said while surrounded by top U.S. business leaders. “The regulatory burden is, for the people behind me and for the great companies of this country, and for the small companies, an impossible situation. We’re going to solve it very quickly.”
One of the biggest hits to the economy of the United States is the massive number or rules and regulations put out by the entire alphabet soup of agencies. On top of that, we’ve also seen, primarily under Obama, agencies assuming authority that they never had under their enabling legislation. I’ve read estimates of the costs of the regulatory burden at well over $2 trillion dollars.
“This executive order is one of many ways we’re going to get real results when it comes to job-killing regulations and unleashing economic opportunity,” he said. “We’re going to bring back jobs and create more opportunities to prosper, maybe more than ever before in our country.”
The executive order, Mr. Trump continued, will ensure that each agency across government has a “real team of dedicated people” that will consistently review regulations inside their respective department.
I suspect that a lot of the bureaucrats might be thinking of ways to subvert these Task Forces. This would be a very serious error in judgment for them. I fully expect that the leaders of these task forces will not be coming from within the agencies, and will be headed by people who will not put up with the usual load of crap.
Right now, the new heads of the assorted alphabet soup of agencies generally have one thing in common. They do not have any problem burning their own agencies to the ground, figuratively speaking. It won’t surprise me at all if at least one major cabinet department or agency isn’t submitted to Congress for abolishment. So many of them just suck money and resources out of the economy and produce nothing at all of benefit to the taxpayers. (I’m thinking the Education Department is one that won’t be missed)
We’re only about a month into the Trump Presidency and he’s working hard to keep his promises and get things done. It’s been a bit rocky, with the usual beltway suspects spewing their usual bilge on how Trump and people aren’t “One of them.” Well, we already have one major difference between President Donald J. Trump and former president Barack H. Obama.
Donald Trump takes responsibility for mistakes on his watch. Obama never did. He just blamed everyone else when his ideas and plans blew up in his face. The Beltway swamp is deep, thick and filled with vermin. It’s going to take a lot of work to drain it, but draining it not only will happen, it has to happen. President Trump is on his way to Making America Great Again.
