MSNBC, home of tax scofflaws

Good day all. Yesterday I belittled MSNBC host Rachel Maddow on her breathless announcement that she had a copy of President Trump’s 2005 tax returns. Maddow’s faceplant showed that rather then not paying taxes, Trump was paying at the top rate. Later on I found another story on the list of MSNBC hosts who think that paying taxes is “For the little people.”

It seems that a number of current and former hosts on MSNBC have had issues with opening their wallets and forking over taxes to Uncle Sam. Some of the amounts they owed were rather small, at least for rich Progressive Liberal Democrats, others were well into the 7 figures. Here are the details on the MSNBC hypocrites from HeatStreet:

A Heat Street review of public records show that a total of six current, prominent MSNBC pundits have recently settled federal or state tax liens, while one still has tax problems. Moreover, at least two other hosts who recently left the network have also had massive tax liens filed against them.

MSNBC declined to comment, and none of the current or former tax debtors responded to requests for interviews sent through an MSNBC spokesperson.

Gee, I wonder why? Surely the people running MSNBC have nothing to hide, do they? So who are these deadbeats?

The Rev. Al Sharpton — MSNBC’s Sunday morning host — easily comes in first place when it comes to “issues” with the taxman. He and his various entities—including several dissolved by New York for failure to pay taxes—currently owe about $1.5 million in state and federal taxes, interest and penalties, according to public records.

It’s a staggering sum, but down substantially from the $4.5 million in outstanding tax liens tallied by the New York Times two years ago. Sharpton has repeatedly said he’s worked out agreements with authorities to settle his tax debt, and a source close to him says he’s been paying it down aggressively, aware of how it may affect his legacy.

His legacy? How about his freedom? Anyone else, considering things I‘ve read about his history of tax evasion, would have been jailed by now.

The reverend has repeatedly called publicly for the wealthy to pay their fair share of taxes.

And as we have seen, when Sharpton demands the wealthy pay their fair share, he’s talking about everyone but himself. So, who’s next on the list?

In January 2016, New York filed a lien for more than $2,500 in back taxes against MSNBC daytime anchor Craig Melvin, which he didn’t settle until the final weeks of the year. It’s not the first time Melvin has run into tax problems, either. In 2010, South Carolina — where he used to anchor local news — filed a tax warrant against him for more than $3,300, which has since been resolved. Melvin has also run into other financial problems, with Discover Bank taking him to court in 2005 over a $3,200 debt. Melvin has spoken out on air and on social media about the need for the wealthy to pay more taxes.

Since I don’t watch MSNBC, I have no idea who this clod is. Obviously, he’s a typical deadbeat moonbat bleating out the standard moonbat call of “Do as I say, not as I do!” at least when it comes to paying taxes. And speaking of barking moonbats, guess who else is on the list?

Melvin is joined by Chris Matthews. Last summer, Maryland took out a lien against the Hardball host and his wife for nearly $4,000 before Matthews paid up.

In 2012, for example, Matthews said that “the key element” of a political battle between John Boehner and Barack Obama was “that there be tax fairness—the people at the top, who now get a tax break of about 5 percent, should not get that anymore because they don’t need it.”

Besides these shining examples of Progressive thought, there were a couple of former hosts who have issues with paying “Their fair share. Do any of you recall the former host Melissa Harris-Perry? She was a stereotypical Progressive Democrat, right down to the racism. She’s also a tax deadbeat as well.

Melissa Harris-Perry, who left the network in 2016, had a federal tax lien taken out against her for around $70,000 in 2015. She paid it off the following year.

$70K? That’s a nice piece of change. You could argue, (But I won’t), that “Tingles” Matthews might just have missed something when filling out his tax forms. (Or actually his highly paid tax attorney, whose job it is to find every single way to legally avoid paying taxes.) $4000 isn’t a lot, especially for a Rich Progressive.

You would think that MSNBC, with it’s list of tax scofflaws, would have vetted Rachel “Madcow” Maddow’s “Super giant really massive major breaking scoop” on Trump’s tax returns before even announcing that she had access to them. But then, that would mean doing a little actual gathering of facts and reporting, and we all know that is not something MSNBC does. No, their mantra is “All the Fake News fit to broadcast.”
