Good day all. Last night MSNBC host Rachel Mad Cow Maddow, after hours of tweets and Facebook posts, showed the world Donald Trump’s 2005 tax returns. The result turned out to to be the SPLAT heard around the internet as Rachel Maddow faceplanted on national television.
I missed the buildup since I don’t pay any attention to anyone on MSNBC, (Like pretty much anyone with a functioning brain stem), and only saw the results when I happened to take a gander at the front page of the Drudge Report. In big red letters screeching from the high heavens was the news that Maddow and MSNBC had gotten a copy of Trump’s 2005 tax returns, and that they, *shudder* showed that he paid a hell of a lot in taxes. Now Rachel Maddow has become the laughingstock of the internet. Here are a few remarks, starting with that bastion of right wing writing, The Slate:
At 7:36 p.m. Tuesday night, Rachel Maddow tweeted “BREAKING: We’ve got Trump tax returns. Tonight, 9pm ET. MSNBC. (Seriously),” sending the internet into a frenzy of theorizing. Did Maddow have Donald Trump’s tax returns or just one of the Trumps’ tax returns? Could this be it, the tax return that would bring down the Donald? If this was it, why wasn’t MSNBC cutting into its programming, instead of running a countdown clock to Maddow’s show?
By 8:24, Maddow was tweeting that the tax return in question was Donald Trump’s 1040 from 2005. By 8:30, still half an hour before Maddow started airing, the White House had responded to the MSNBC report, saying that Trump had paid $38 million on income of $150 million that year. An hour later, about 20 minutes after The Rachel Maddow Show started, Maddow would confirm these numbers, turning her big scoop about Donald Trump’s long-missing tax returns into a cautionary tale about overhype. Rachel Maddow, you played yourself—and us too.
The commentary from Slate’s Willa Paskin is not kind to Maddow. She basically called Maddow a complete idiot. Of course, it’s tough for even the Progressive Media to cover up such blinding stupidity, and MSNBC is not known for hiring the brightest bulbs in the lamp. Then we have CNBC. In an editorial on the Maddow Debacle, Writer Jay Yarow blasted Maddow for basically handing President Trump yet another victory.
On her Tuesday show, Rachel Maddow teased a scoop: She had Donald Trump’s 2005 tax returns. It was the first time his federal returns would be released.
Actually, the returns were not released, they were stolen. Whoever handed them over, unless he or she was granted permission to do so from president Trump, committed a crime. More on that later.
Small digression: MSNBC’s Maddow didn’t have them. Investigative reporter David Cay Johnston got them, and went on her show to talk about it.
So Maddow was taking credit for the work of others? Why how progressive of her! And the “Yuuge!” reveal of President Trump’s tax returns? He made a pile of money and paid one hell of a lot of money in taxes.
Anyway, when she finally revealed what was in the taxes, it was not a huge deal. Trump earned about $150 million in income in 2005, and paid $38 million in taxes, thanks to the alternative minimum tax, which he wants to kill.
The 2005 tax return could have been an anomaly. Maybe Trump doesn’t pay this much in taxes normally. Or, maybe he usually pays more. Who knows! Either way, this story has created the appearance that Trump does in fact make a lot of money, and he pays millions in taxes.
President Trump pays more as a percentage than Communist idiot Bernie Sanders, Barack Obama and more than Comcast, which owns MSNBC. This is a far cry from the accusations that he doesn’t pay taxes. Next, the paranoia kicked in.
On Maddow’s show, Johnston suggested that Trump may have sent the tax returns to him. It seemed like an odd thing to say. But, when you look at how this is really good for Trump, maybe it’s not so crazy after all.
If this is accurate, and I wouldn’t put it past President Trump to do just that, it shows that once again, he has gotten inside the Mostly Stupid Media’s OODA Loop. The Progressive Morons and Moonbats are so rabid in their hatred of Donald Trump, and America in general, that they will glom onto anything that pushes their worldview.
Checking and verifying the facts to keep from being proven to be complete idiots is something they just can’t bother with. The upshot? They keep shooting themselves in the foot. I would ask, “When will they learn?”, but we all know that the Progressives are incapable of logical thought and only deal in “Feelz.” Meanwhile, the Trump Tank rolls along.
