Good day all. I saw this last weekend and I had to wonder, Who in Hell would buy the personal essays of Felonia von Pantsuit, aka, Hillary Clinton?
It seems that Simon & Shuster thinks that people might actually be interested and have signed a book deal with Felonia. Here are the details from Publishers Weekly:
Former secretary of state and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton has sold a yet-to-be-titled new book of quotations and personal essays to Simon & Schuster. The book, which is expected to publish under the S&S trade imprint in fall 2017, will tell stories from Clinton’s life, including her experiences during the 2016 presidential election. It will also feature a collection of inspirational quotations.
“These are the words I live by,” Clinton said, according to a press release. “These quotes have helped me celebrate the good times, laugh at the absurd times, persevere during the hard times and deepen my appreciation of all life has to offer.”
In a second deal brokered between Reidy, Barnett, and Jon Anderson of the Children’s Publishing Division, Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers will publish Clinton’s bestselling It Takes a Village for the first time as a picture book in fall 2017. The book will be illustrated by two-time Caldecott Honor winner Marla Frazee. Steven Malk at Writers House represented the illustrator. Paula Wiseman will be the editor. It Takes a Village will also be published by Simon & Schuster’s international companies in Australia, Canada, India, and the United Kingdom.
Isn’t this just wonderful? I remember when “It Takes a Village” first came out. It was the epitomy of state control of the upbringing of children. As for the “Inspirational quotes” From Felonia von Pantsuit? Let me save you some money. Here a few that we all should know by now.
“Show me the money!
“How dare you? Who do you think you are? Do you know who I AM??”
“I’ll kill them all!”
“It was a Youtube video that caused all this to happen.”
“For a suitable donation to the Clinton Foundation, I think I can help push through that uranium mine sale you want.”
“Make this problem go away!”
I expect these books will end up on the remainders table in short order. I fully expect Simon and Shuster to take a bath on this. Since this is a company that prefers to sell books by left wing and corrupt idiots, I’m sure there sales will be in the dozens. I guess they feel that since Felonia is out of work and unable to take bribes, they had to do something to keep her in the luxury she so richly doesn’t deserve. Since I’m not a shareholder, I’m of this opinion on S&S’s decision.
