Good day all. It’s Friday, I’ve been very busy and began looking for something to comment on. Lo and Behold, what did I find? It seems that the New York Slimes has a problem with a woman impersonating a New York Slimes reporter.
Apparently, this “Problem” for the Slimes has been going on for 4 years now. The woman in question has ignored requests, demands and some cease and desist letters. Here are the details from the New York Post:
The Gray Lady is seeing red over a colorful Manhattan woman who’s masquerading as a New York Times reporter, saying she is sullying its reputation as the newspaper of record.
Sullying the reputation of the New York Slimes? Are they effing kidding? Here’s what’s really happened with the New York Slimes vaunted reputation.
Contessa Bourbon’s been keeping up the charade for four years, according to the Times’ new lawsuit against her.
I guess the question is, does she produce anything and is she any good? She certainly can’t be any worse then the Progressive Propagandists currently “Reporting” for the New York Slimes.
She first introduced herself as a Times reporter at a Brookings Institute event in 2013. She also claimed to work for the paper in an interview with the Turkish ambassador, and then again at a speech in March by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
“Ms. Bourbon is not, and has never been, employed by The Times, as a reporter for The New York Times, or in any other position or capacity,” the Manhattan Supreme Court suit says.
I believe I have located Ms. Bourbon’s Facebook page. She does seem to get around meeting and greeting people.
She has ignored two cease-and-desist letters, it says.
And so, the New York Slimes has decided to test the Streisand Effect. I did enjoy the arguments the Slimes is giving the court to shut Ms. Bourbon down.
Her scheme “is likely to cause confusion or injury to the business reputation of The Times, or dilution of the distinctive quality of The Times” trademarks, the Times’ lawyers claim in the just-filed suit.
Oh that’s hilarious! The New York Slimes reputations was trashed long before Ms. Bourbon came along. There is nothing she could do that wouldn’t be an improvement on what passes for “Reporting” and “Journalism” at the New York Slimes. Sadly, they will probably get what they want.
The newspaper is suing to force her to give up the guise.
Ms. Bourbon is also pretending to be a reporter with other major news agencies and papers.
Her Twitter bio also claims she is a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, the Times of London, the Guardian and the Washington Post.
It will be interesting if they also go after her, or just ignore her as a harmless eccentric. Who knows? They might actually see if she’s any good and hire her.
