CNN ratings continue to collapse

Good day all. It’s time for another standing headline. CNN’s ratings continue to plummet! Yes, to the surprise of CNN management, more and more people are tuning out the Fake News Network.

The ratings are the some of the lowest in three years, and I suspect are only going to get worse. Here are the details, NOT from CNN, but form their arch enemy, Fox News:

CNN’s 24/7 Trump-bashing strategy doesn’t seem to be working.

The beleaguered network’s primetime hosts Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon celebrated Thanksgiving with the network’s lowest-rated week in primetime viewership in nearly three years.

Fox News averaged 2.2 million viewers during the primetime hours of 9-11 p.m. ET from Nov. 25 through Dec. 1, while MSNBC averaged 1.3 million viewers during the same time period and CNN managed only 643,000 average viewers. It was CNN’s worst performance in nearly three years and the liberal network’s worst turnout among the key demographic of adults age 25-54 in over five years.

CNN was beaten by MSDNC, the primary propaganda network for the Democrat Party? How did that happen?

Thanksgiving didn’t make for a slow news week, as CNN’s hapless totals came amid ongoing news regarding impeachment hearings of President Trump, the controversy surrounding the handling of Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, Mike Bloomberg launching a 2020 presidential bid, Trump’s surprise trip to Afghanistan and significant weather-related stories.

President Trump’s visit caught everyone by surprise, which it had to for security reasons. It’s already cost the job of one “Journalist” at Newsweek who said that President Trump planned to play golf over Thanksgiving. (I think she was unjustly fired. She filed the report a day before Thanksgiving and was given no opportunity to correct it)

CNN averaged only 138,000 primetime demo viewers – less than half of Fox News’ average of 303,000 during the week.

As CNN posted historic lows, episodes of “Hannity,” “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” “The Ingraham Angle,” “The Story with Martha MacCallum” and “Special Report” with Bret Baier accounted for 15 of the 30 most-watched telecasts across all of cable during the holiday weekend.

Yes, that’s it, rub sulfuric acid soaked salt into the wound.

Things don’t seem to be on track to turn around for CNN, as the network’s special town hall event with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the day she announced that articles of impeachment against President Trump were being drafted only averaged 1.6 million viewers and 410,000 in the demo on Thursday night, well behind both Fox News and MSNBC in both categories.

I’m still surprised that CNN is being crushed by MSDNC. Still, this is all CNN’s own fault. Specifically, it’s the fault of CNN’s President, Jeff Zucker. His hatred of President Trump and his orders to bash President Trump 24 hours a day, 7 days a week are now turning off everyone, and they are turning to Fox. I suspect that the ratings would be even worse if it wasn’t for the captive audiences in airports around the world. Those TVs are locked on to CNN. (Travelers who are waiting for their flights have voiced their complaints too)

I suspect that these ratings are going to be hitting the bottom line soon enough, if they haven’t already. WarnerMedia’s management isn’t going to put up with this for to much longer. They have to answer to their shareholders. While no one expects a news network to make piles of cash, they do expect to break even or make a bit of a profit.

If things get much worse, or the airports start turning off CNN, I think we may see a wholesale change in management at CNN, starting with Jeff Zucker “Seeking new opportunities…elsewhere.” It will take replacing most of the management and pretty much all the on air talent, and I use that term very loosely, if CNN wants to get it’s credibility back.
