Good day all. The damage done the United States economy, the global economy by the flat out incompetence and stupidity of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, (President Xi Jinping, commanding), is in the trillions of dollars.

The Covid-19 Virus, aka China Virus, aka Wuhan Flu, was first identified in Wuhan, China late last year. The PRC government, instead of moving to contain it, instead covered up existence of the virus and in doing so, allowed it to get out into the world. We’ve since seen the results, (And I’ve been writing about it in my series, The Great Panicdemic of 2020), of the PRC government’s stupidity, and now, the lawsuits are starting to be filed. Missouri has unleashed the lawyers. Here are the details from Fox News:
Missouri became the first state to file a lawsuit against China on Tuesday, accusing the country of being responsible for the severity of the coronavirus pandemic and seeking damages to make up for “the enormous loss of life, human suffering, and economic turmoil” resulting from the disease.
The first two accusations are probably not going to amount much, since the China Flu is, while very contagious, not really that serious in most cases. The third accusation, the one about economic damage? Yeah, I think that’s the one that’s going to stick.
The suit in the Eastern District of Missouri follows at least seven federal class-action suits that have been filed by private groups, with one filed in Florida saying that China knew “COVID-19 was dangerous and capable of causing a pandemic, yet slowly acted, proverbially put their head in the sand, and/or covered it up in their own economic self-interest.”
It also comes on the heels of 22 Republican lawmakers on Monday requesting that the Trump administration bring a case against China to the International Court of Justice (ICIJ) for the country’s actions during the pandemic.
I have mixed emotions on that. While I would like to see President Trump take China to court, I have serious issues with the so called “International Court of Justice.” Basically it’s another United Nations attempt at ruling the world. Better to stick to the courts we know in countries that abide by the rule of law.
Officials told Fox News that outside of the health consequences of the coronavirus — Missouri has confirmed 5,963 cases of the virus and 215 deaths as of Tuesday morning, (April 21st) — the economic shutdown the state imposed to reduce the spread of the disease has cost Missouri about $44 billion, according to one estimate.
“In Missouri, the impact of the virus is very real – thousands have been infected and many have died, families have been separated from dying loved ones, small businesses are shuttering their doors, and those living paycheck to paycheck are struggling to put food on their table,” Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said in a statement.
Well, how about opening the state back up and shutting down your unconstitutional actions? That would be a big help to people.
The text of the lawsuit lays the blame for the pandemic’s consequences squarely at China’s feet.
“The repeated unlawful and unreasonable acts and omissions of” China, the Missouri suit claims, “have been injurious to—and have significantly interfered with—the lives, health, and safety of substantial numbers of Missouri residents, ruining lives and damaging the public order and economy of the State of Missouri.”
As you would expect from Lawyers, they’re going to try and loot the People’s Republic of China’s financial coffers. They’re also going through the usual process of throwing the spaghetti at the wall to see how much actually sticks. However, there is a problem with all this, and it’s the Chinese government.
The suit, led by Schmitt, goes after The People’s Republic of China — the official Chinese government — as well as a variety of Chinese government agencies. Notably, however, the suit also names the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in an effort to go around restrictions in the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA).
Well, that will be interesting. Going after the ChiCom party. Technically, they are a “Private political entity,” but in practice, they are the Chinese government, which brings us to a major fly in the ointment. (Several actually)
Assuming that Missouri wins the case, how are they going to get China to pay? What if the Chinese Government tells them to go pound sand? (Lord knows we’ve done that ourselves a time or two) They’re also not considering that they are dealing with a nation that has a large, reasonably well trained military and can, if they so choose, shoot a few lawyers. (Would that be considered a win/win situation?)
No, the best way to punish the Chinese Government is to get companies to pull all their manufacturing out of the country. Sadly, this is going to hurt the Chinese people far more then it does the ChiCom government, but it will take away a major source of revenue from China, which will slow down their World Domination ambitions. In the end, it’s going to be up to the Chinese to deal with this mess, and that may mean a change at the top of the ChiCom food chain. In any case, best of luck to Missouri.
