Good day all. The teachers union in Kalifornistan is one of the public sector unions that basically controls the state. They have decided that they don’t really want to go back to work, but demand that they continue to be paid. The head of the Berkeley Federation of Teachers has been one of those pushing this garbage.
However, it seems that this Progressive Liberal Elitist has mad a tiny little mistake. He was caught dropping off his daughter at a private school for in person teaching. Now the union is scrambling to control the damage. Here are some of the details from the New York Post:
The head of a California teachers union has been blasted as a hypocrite after he was caught dropping off his 2-year-old daughter at her private preschool — despite saying it was unsafe for children to be back in classrooms, according to a report.
“Meet Matt Meyer. White man with dreads and president of the local teachers’ union. He’s been saying it is unsafe for *your kid* to be back at school, all the while dropping his kid off at private school,” a group known as Guerilla Momz said on Twitter.
Gee, I would have thought that the head of the local teachers union would be happy to see his children taught by his membership. Interesting that this overpaid buffoon is putting his daughter into a private school that I suspect doesn’t have a single unionized teacher on the premises.
Meyer, president of the Berkeley Federation of Teachers, has fought for what he called the “gold standard” for the educators — saying the schools should only reopen to in-person learning when the teachers are vaccinated, among other criteria, KQED reported.
While I don’t have kids, I know and work with people who do, and bluntly, this remote teaching has not worked very well. Parents who have gone in for full home schooling are able to see their “Little Darlings” get a decent education, but those relying on Zoom and other tools know full well that kids are not doing a lot of learning.
Looking to prove a double standard by Meyer, Guerilla Momz followed Meyer and his daughter to her preschool, where they captured him dropping her off on Feb. 18.
“Matt Meyer Berkeley Federation of Teachers President blocks opening public schools in-person, yet has had his own child in in-person school since June 2020. Stop the hypocrisy. Our children are suffering. Open schools full-time Now,” the group wrote on YouTube, where the video was posted.
I would recommend seeing that video asap. Without question, YouTube will pull it down for violating their standards on showing one of the Progressive Liberal elites for the hypocrite they are. Of course, Meyer thinks that showing him to be a hypocrite is wrong.
Meyer told Fox News that the video — in which his child’s face is blurred — was “very inappropriate” and an intrusion of the girl’s privacy, adding that there were “no public options for kids her age.”
“There are major differences in running a small preschool and a 10,000 student public school district in terms of size, facilities, public health guidance and services that legally have to be provided,” Meyer told Fox News in a statement.
The blurring of the child’s face was very appropriate since the little girl is NOT the target. Her greedy, arrogant, hypocritical father, on the other hand, is a legitimate target. I also so enjoy his elitist attitude that states there is no public option. There isn’t because of jerks like him. Of course, Meyer has his defenders.
Berkeley parent Mara Kolesas, a former PTA Berkeley Council president, told KQED that she understands parents’ anger — and agrees schools should reopen — but argued that following Meyer’s 2-year-old with a camera crossed a line.
“For me, you don’t need to attack people personally, you need to address it politically. When you start getting personal, you mix up dimensions, and you don’t get to discuss the real thing,” Kolesas told the outlet.
I see that Ms. Kolesas doesn’t get it. The little girl was incidental to the issue at hand. It was one of the Progressive Liberal Elites once again pulling their “I’m to important to follow the rules we impose on the serfs and peons.” This is what is driving people up the wall.
Now the headline on Fox News is reporting that Meyers has been “Ousted” from his position, but following the link into the story doesn’t report this as actually happening. As I write this, it’s still early in the morning in Kalifornistan and they probably haven’t started for what passes as “work” in the Union HQ. It’s possible that Fox heard something but hasn’t been able to verify it yet. However, Meyer has violated the First Rule of Progressiveness. Don’t get caught doing something we force other, lesser beings not to do. I suspect the old bus is being started right now.
