Good day all. Once upon a time, there as a delivery company known as Federal Express. They had an advertisement where someone would call them and say, “Hello Federal.” They were actually a top notch delivery service and routinely ate UPS’s lunch.

That was a very long time ago. One of the issues with Federal Express was the simple fact that people wouldn’t call them by their name, Federal Express. The contracted it to “FedEx.” Federal Express tried to break people of the habit, but all they did was nail it to the forefront of everyone’s consciousness. They finally gave up and took on the name “FedEx.”
Now that this bit of history is over, allow me to tell you why I hate them. Last weekend, I ordered two separate products from two separate companies in two different states. The first company is actually in New Hampshire, about an hour’s drive from me. I’ve done business with them before and they are very good.
The second company is in Missouri, and I have also done business with them in the past, and they have also been very good. The orders were made within an hour of each other on Sunday. By early Monday, the notices had come they the packages had shipped. This is where the “Fun” began.
You would assume that the package from the company in the same state as I am, would reach my home in no more then a day, two at the most. I expected the one from Missouri to take the better part of a week. FedEx sent out notices that they had the packages, and the one in New Hampshire was now at the local distribution center. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that it was now on a truck and had left the center, (Which is about 20 minutes from the Anger Central Primary Domicile). “Great!” I thought, I expected to get it Tuesday night.
It was not to be. When I got home from my Real World Job, expecting to see the nice FedEx package, I saw…nothing. I checked the FedEx site and found that my package had been shipped down to the Northbridge distribution center in MASSACHUSETTS! They had literally DRIVEN RIGHT PAST MY HOME! It’s been sitting there since Tuesday night.

Now the other package, the one from Missouri that I didn’t expect to see until the weekend? It was delivered this afternoon, (Tuesday), about 72 hours after it was ordered. The other package sat in their distribution center in Massachusetts for 4 DAYS before being delivered Friday.
I hate FedEx. They used to be good, but now they are the lowest of the low. They will blame Covid-19, the labor shortages and gamma rays reflecting off the International Space Station for their performance, but we all know it’s an internal issue. America invented the science of Logistics and brought it to perfection in World War 2. The private delivery companies now in existence were founded by people who learned logistics in the military and modified it for the civilian market.
Now FedEx is rated lower then the United States Post Office for on time deliveries. Amazon’s own delivery system, which is no great shakes, (And, frankly, run by morons), is better the FedEx is currently. In fact, I have an Amazon order that is late. I checked it and for some unknown reason, they used FedEx and my package was parked in a Pennsylvania distribution center for a week. Amazon actually apologized for the delay.

I think it’s time for FedEx to return to it’s original name, Federal Express. When they do that, they can reorganize their infrastructure and get rid of the deadwood that has been screwing things up. Oh, as for that package from Missouri? It didn’t do what I wanted and I’ve sent it back. I was feeling vindictive so I used…FedEx! They might see it sometime next month.
