Good day all. One of my issues is a tendency not to pay to much attention to the goings on in the home state of Anger Central. We are based in the “Granite State” of New Hampshire. Last night I was perusing a forum and someone mentioned that New Hampshire was looking to secede from the United States.
He provided a link to the story, so of course I went to read what this was all about. It’s interesting in that there are two chances of this actually passing. Zero and less than zero. Still, it’s fun to read about. Here are some of the details from TIMCAST:
State Representative Mike Sylvia filed a proposal that would make New Hampshire its own nation-state, independent from Washington D.C.
“There are hundreds of examples of the federal government overstepping its authority. Enough is enough. We should put this before the voters to decide,” he told The Center Square.
Sylvia cited the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s eviction ban and President Joe Biden’s mandate which requires federal workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine as examples of federal overreach. He also mentioned that New Hampshire, which has no state income tax, is obligated to pay federal income tax.
“We are a donor state that pays out more in federal income taxes than what we get back,” Sylvia said.
That is questionable. Assuming that this actually happened, and that New Hampshire actually seceded, we would have to put into place customs controls, import controls and passport controls just to go to Massachusetts. (Of course, considering that the People’s Democratic Republic of Taxachusetts is already trying to do that to New Hampshire…) We also don’t have much of a manufacturing base. We do have a large defense contractor in New Hampshire, (BAE), but they would probably close down and move out of the “Republic of New Hampshire. We would also be surrounded by hostile Communist states.
According to the Concord Monitor, Sylvia “moved to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project, a movement committed to attracting newcomers to New Hampshire and shrinking the size of state and local government.”
The Concord Monitor is somewhat to the left of the old Soviet newspaper, Pravda. They went all woke on the idea, calling it “Racist!”
New Hampshire House Speaker Sherman Packard is condemning comments by Republican Belmont Rep. Michael Sylvia. On social media, Sylvia suggested that using racist stereotypes about undocumented immigrants could help build Republican support for New Hampshire seceding from the United States.
He continued: “Secession is not something House Republican leadership is even remotely involved with, nor do we condone racial stereotyping of any kind.”
For those of you who might not be aware of this, the Free State Project was something that the Libertarian party was pushing years ago. The idea was to move enough like minded individuals to a state and through the election process, basically take it over, and then shut down as much of the Government as possible. Not, in and of itself a bad idea, but the Libertarian party jumped the proverbial shark a long time ago. Now they’re almost as bad as the Democratic Communazis.

This is not an idea who’s time has come. I will be rather surprised if it makes it onto the ballot. If it does, I just might vote for it out of spite. I have no doubt that it will fail miserably. Still, it will be entertaining to watch.
