Good day all. During the height of the great Panicdemic of 2020, thousands of people were showing their unhappiness with the actions of Govno Wretched Gretchen Whitmer. During this, a number of people were arrested for “Plotting to kidnap Whitmer.”

As the pretrial stuff proceeded, some interesting little details came out. The upshot was, it appears that the Federal Bureau of Injustice Investigation was hip deep in the whole thing and may have entrapped the people arrested. Today, (Friday April 8th), the Jury returned with their verdicts. Here are the details from Newsmax:
Two of four men were acquitted Friday in a conspiracy to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2020, motivated by fury at the Democrat’s tough COVID-19 restrictions early in the pandemic.

The jury’s verdicts against Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta were read in the federal court in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the case presided over by U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker. Jurors said they couldn’t agree on verdicts again Adam Fox and Barry Croft Jr. Prosecutors described Fox as a ringleader of an anti-government group.
I suspect they couldn’t agree on a verdict with Fox because it sure does look that the actual ringleaders were federal agents. Still, it would be interesting to see what the split was.
Defense attorneys portrayed their clients as credulous weekend warriors prone to big, wild talk, who were often stoned. They said FBI undercover agents and informants tricked and cajoled the men into agreeing to a conspiracy.
It isn’t surprising that the lawyers said that their clients were entrapped. That’s almost a standard defense in a lot of these cases. However, and the Newsmax story doesn’t go into it, some of the prosecution’s witnesses turned out to be the ones pushing for this plot.
Prosecutors offered testimony from undercover agents, a crucial informant and two men who pleaded guilty to the plot. Jurors also read and heard secretly recorded conversations, violent social media posts and chat messages.
Defense lawyers, however, said any scheme was the creation of government agents who were embedded in the group and manipulated the men.
From what I can recall, the defense attorneys pretty much blew some big holes in the Government’s case. This is probably why two of the defendants were acquitted. Here are a few details on that from Associated (With terrorists) Press:
Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta were found not guilty of conspiracy. In addition, Harris was acquitted of charges related to explosives and a gun.
So as far as society is concerned, Harris and Caserta are free to go. (I haven’t heard about anything else, but I may have missed something) The hung jury on the other two, after spending who knows how much time and money isn’t making the prosecution happy,
“Obviously we’re disappointed with the outcome. We have two defendants that are awaiting trial and we’ll get back to work on that,” U.S. Attorney Andrew Birge said, declining further comment.
Now the government has to decide if they are going to retry the two who the jury couldn’t reach a verdict on. If it was just one or two jurors refusing to convict, there is a fair chance they will. If it was the other way around, with one or two holding out for a conviction, they may decide that their chances aren’t good.
There is also the issue of the defense getting more evidence of government malfeasance. If they find out and confirm that this whole thing was basically cooked up by the FBI, the blowback could splatter all over the prosecutors. At this point, we have no other information.
Whitmer, a Democrat, rarely talks publicly about the plot, though she referred to “surprises” during her term that seemed like “something out of fiction” when she filed for reelection on March 17.
Oh I doubt she was all that surprised. That this was a kidnapping plot has always sounded rather odd to me. If it had been an assassination plot, it would have made more sense to me. As for Wretched Gretchen? She still refuses to accept that the reason people wanted to get her was her tearing up the Constitution and, for all intents and purposes, instituting a dictatorship in Michigan.
She has blamed former President Donald Trump for fomenting anger over coronavirus restrictions and refusing to condemn right-wing extremists like those charged in the case.

Wretched Gretchen was one of the worst of the Democrat govno’s during the Panicdemic. (None of them were any great shakes of course) She was quite happy to treat people like slaves and abusing the authority she had. I believe it reached the point where the state legislature or the voters, (Perhaps both), finally stripped her of the authority she was abusing. I’ll let others provide corrected information in the comments section.
