Good day all. Since the first part of the Twitter Files was released by Matt Tiabbi last Friday, the internet has been on fire, mostly from Conservatives and Trump supporters regarding the collusion by Twitter, and ostensibly the rest of Big Tech, to suppress the Biden Laptop story. People were wondering when Part 2 was going to be released and why it was delayed.
Now we know. It appears that the Twitter General Counsel was censoring and blocking information that Matt Taibbi and Bari Weiss were supposed to be getting. The General Counsel, James Baker, did this not at the behest of Elon Musk, but behind his back. When Musk found out, he wasn’t happy. James Backer was fired and walked out of the building Tuesday. Here are some of the details from the Post Millennial:
On Tuesday, Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced that attorney Jim Baker had been “exited” from the company following recent revelations that he may have played a role in facilitating censorship on the platform. Baker had been hired by Twitter as deputy general counsel following a stint at the FBI that ended with him essentially being forced out of the job.
James Baker was the general Counsel at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was also up to his eyeballs in the attempted coup against the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump. According to another story on Baker’s firing in Newsmax:
In the preeminence of the 2016 presidential campaign, Baker fixed himself as a controversial figure. During that time, legal scholar Jonathan Turley writes, Baker was repeatedly featured “in the Russian investigations launched by the Justice Department, including the hoax involving the Russian Alfa Bank. When Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann wanted to plant the bizarre false claim of a secret communications channel between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, Baker was his go-to, speed-dial contact.”
Baker was forced out of the FBI over this, (he should have been prosecuted, but the DoJ is full of Deep State operatives), and landed the general Counsel position at Twitter. I don’t know why he wasn’t fired with the other C-level managers when Musk took over. It’s possible that Musk didn’t know what a corrupt individual Baker is or Baker gave him a nice song and dance.
It’s also possible that Musk did know what a dirtbag Baker is, but for legal reasons couldn’t fire him. Instead, he gave Baker all the rope he needed to hang himself with, and he did just that. I suspect the information will come out eventually. Returning to the Post Millennial story:
“In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today,” Musk wrote on Twitter.
Musk said that Baker’s explanation was “unconvincing” once he was confronted.
So Baker lied to his boss. That’s always a great way to advance one’s career. When Matt Taibbi posted this follow up to the initial Twitter Files post, he explained why they didn’t have part 2 ready and laid out the reasons why. According to the Newsmax story:
“On Friday,” Taibbi wrote in a Tuesday thread, “the first installment of the Twitter files was published here. We expected to publish more over the weekend. Many wondered why there was a delay.”
“We can now tell you part of the reason why. On Tuesday, Twitter Deputy General Counsel (and former FBI General Counsel) Jim Baker was fired. Among the reasons? Vetting the first batch of ‘Twitter Files’ — without knowledge of new management.”
“The process for producing the ‘Twitter Files,'” Taibbi continues, “involved delivery to two journalists (Bari Weiss and me) via a lawyer close to new management. However, after the initial batch, things became complicated.”
“Over the weekend, while we both dealt with obstacles to new searches, it was [Weiss] who discovered that the person in charge of releasing the files was someone named Jim. When she called to ask ‘Jim’s’ last name, the answer came back: ‘Jim Baker.'”
“My jaw hit the floor,” Weiss said.
Obviously, Ms. Weiss recognized the name and knew who James Baker is. One of the things that Baker was involved in was the suppression of the Hunter Biden Laptop story. Many people believe that if the story hadn’t been suppressed by Big Tech and the Democrat controlled media, Joe Biden would have lost the election. (In other words, the Trump vote would have been larger then the Circular Error of Fraud needed to rig the election for Biden) Heading over to Fox News, we have some interesting comments:
Investor Jason Howertson tweeted a summary of the incident and marveled at media outlets failing to cover the story properly.
“Ex-FBI general counsel Jim Baker (*coincidentally* involved in phony Steele dossier & Alfa Bank hoax) magically ended up as Twitter’s Deputy General Counsel & left his fingerprints on everything,” he wrote. “It’s amazing to watch journalism that the media REFUSE to do happen live on Twitter.”
Journalist Glenn Greenwald noted the disturbing blurred lines between big tech leadership and government institutions.
“It’s a bit difficult to maintain the US Security State had no role in Twitter’s censorship regime when *the General Counsel of the FBI* – centrally involved in Russiagate and all sorts of politicized abuses – ended up as Twitter’s Deputy General Counsel, with paws in everything,” he tweeted.
The reactions go on in that vein. There were a few from the Moonbat side of the fence claiming that Musk is working for Putin and that Musk is a political opportunist. Basically, the Left is enraged at Musk for keeping his promise to restore Free Speech to Twitter.
According to Matt Taibbi, Part 2 of the Twitter Files will be released soon, (As soon as they clean off all the greasy Baker fingerprints no doubt and have vetted everything carefully), and it will be under Bari Weiss’s name. I also expect that a number of former Twitter managers are going to be invited to speak to a House investigative committee, and that many of them are going to be hit with massive civil lawsuits in the years to come. Sit back and enjoy the show!
