Greetings and Salutations one and all! Well not to you bozos running botnets. For the last few weeks, we’ve been seeing a large increase in traffic from a Bot network out of China. Shocking, I know.
For the last month or so, I’ve been watching our site being scraped by bots from China. These bots were ignoring the robots.txt file and reeking havoc on the shared server and bandwidth. I started looking at ways to block these bots, and finally broke down and purchased a product called Banhammer Pro.
This helped me in banning a bot called Bytespider. However, whoever is running Bytespider was bouncing around, using different IP addresses. I finally had to ban the entire block of IP’s on our hosting services management page. We still have some bots hitting the site, however they are the known ones from Googlag, Bing, and Archive.com.
Another issue that appears to have just happened over the weekend is Amazon’s ad system. It looks like they’re once again playing games. Earlier this year, they killed banners and a few other very useful add systems. We had to go to Amazon and select different items that no one bothers to buy and post small blocks at the end of the posts.
The tool for that went bye bye late Saturday. All we have are text links without product images. Whether this is now a permanent Amazon fixture, or someone broke something on the back end, we don’t know. (Update. I checked our Amazon Associates page and the sections that were missing are back with some new items. They are still greyed out, so I am assuming they’re introducing new features and are testing in production)
Recently, the Angry Webmaster started playing around with linktr.ee. I think he’s looking at it as a replacement for RSS. You can access his drivel using this link. Eventually, we’ll see about making a permalink on the blog interface. We’ve also added a button on the Share lines. It’s the using the old Parler icon. Since Parler is dead and buried, we figured “Why not?”
Finally, there is no truth the rumor that the Angry Webmaster now has a channel on OnlyFans and that it involves goats, pineapples, furry handcuffs and battery powered plastic implements covered in Vasoline.
Thank you

Wouldn’t you know it? Just as I finish this up. Amazon goes and fixes the ad system. See the wonderful ads below and spend, spend, spend!
