Good day all. Media Matters is a hard left wing group that attacks anyone who happens to be to the right of Stalin. The organization was founded in 2004 and is basically an arm of the Democrat Party. They have gone after anyone who doesn’t follow the progressive playbook.
Recently, they have been targeting Twitter(X) and Elon Musk. Musk bought out Twitter over a year ago and basically blew up the left’s control of the platform. With the release of the Twitter Files, Musk showed that the previous management was actively working with the Federal Government to suppress anything that went against the government’s policies, especially with the Covid-19 vaccines and Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Musk also started reactivating accounts that has been disabled, including President Trump’s. (He’s not using it that much since he created Truth Social) This really enraged the Progressives and they started going after Elon Musk and Twitter(X). They started interfering with Twitter’s relationships with advertisers. Now Elon Musk is about to declare war on Media Matters in court. Here are the details from Fox Business News:
Tech billionaire Elon Musk is threatening to file a “thermonuclear” legal action against Media Matters for America, claiming the organization “completely misrepresented the real user experience on X” in an attempt to harm the social media platform.
The issue stems from multinational corporation IBM’s decision to pull ads from the platform after Media Matters for America claimed ads from the tech giant and pro-Nazi X posts had shown up adjacent to each other. The non-profit said other company’s ads had similar experiences.
Media Matters had better be able to prove this, and more importantly, not played games with the context, which they have been known to do in the past. Musk is angry and he is not one to back down from a fight.
“The split second court opens on Monday, X Corp will be filing a thermonuclear lawsuit against Media Matters and ALL those who colluded in this fraudulent attack on our company,” Musk wrote on Twitter Saturday.
He added, “Their board, their donors, their network of dark money, all of them…”
That is going to be very interesting. Media Matters keeps their donor list secret. It is believed that they get a lot of their funding from George Soros. I have no idea how the court proceedings work, but I suspect that demanding the donor lists will be part of the discovery process.
Two more companies opted for a pause in their X ads on Friday — tech giant Apple announced intentions to suspend marketing on the platform, according to a report by Axios. At the same time, a spokesperson for Lionsgate Entertainment also indicated on Friday the media company is pulling its ads from the platform.
This is going to hurt Twitter(X) financially. The company has never made a profit apparently in it’s entire existence. Originally, Musk wanted to pull out of the deal as he saw just how bad they were, but was forced to keep the contracted agreement. Since he’s taken over, he has taken a chainsaw to the company, clearing out the deadwood and cutting costs.
He’s also had his developers going through the code base. It looks like the Musk team is going to have to do a full rip and replace of the code base. Reports have come out that the code is absolute garbage. This is going to cost a lot of money. Even so. Musk and his people have an actual business plan, and now Media Matters has interfered with it.
An executive at X previously told FOX Business the social media platform’s system was “not intentionally placing a brand actively next to this type of content, nor is a brand actively trying to support this content with placement.”
“Ads follow the people on X, in this case the Media Matters research that was going to actively look for this content – that’s how user targeting works,” the X executive said. “As it relates to the platform itself, control settings are in place there for every user and every brand.”
The executive also claimed groups like Media Matters “aggressively search for posts on X and then go to the accounts, and if they see an ad … keep hitting refresh to capture as many brands as possible.”
That sounds like they are actively rigging the system. Most people don’t keep refreshing a page on Twitter(X) are even spend a lot of time on it. (I can’t comment on the app since I don’t have it installed on my primary communications device)
Musk lambasted Media Matters for the accusations in a statement published to X in which he defended freedom of expression on the platform and accused the non-profit of intentionally misleading the public.
“This week, Media Matters for America posted a story that completely misrepresented the real user experience on X, in another attempt to undermine freedom of speech and mislead advertisers.”
“Above everything, including profit, X works to protect the public’s right to free speech. But for speech to be truly free, we must also have the freedom to see or hear things that some people may consider objectionable. We believe that everyone has the right to make up their own minds about what to read, watch, or listen to — because that’s the power of freedom of speech.”
The Democrats, Progressives, Liberals, but I’m repeating myself here, and the organizations such as Media Matters and the Southern Poverty and Law Center have absolute contempt for free speech and the 1st Amendment. They are all in on government censorship of anyone who doesn’t toe the progressive line. (Which is pretty much more then half the country)
These groups have actively worked to prevent people and groups from having any platform to speak from. People who posted rebuttals to anything the left supports were booted and in many cases threatened. When Musk took over Twitter, he restored the platform to it’s intended purpose. To allow the free flow of ideas, no matter how disagreeable they were.
I hope that Musk utterly destroys media Matters in court and if possible, ruins as many of their financial supporters as he can. Media Matters is about to discover that when it comes to Lawfare, people with the resources that Elon Musk has will use the equivalent of a nuke on their opponents. Go get ‘em Elon!

Unpopular speech needs the most protection. Popular speech needs none. This is why I absolutely despise “hate speech” legislation. It is an open and unvarnished violation of the First Amendment. Same goes for all violation of the second.
