Good day all. Saturday, November 18th, Louisiana held a runoff election for state offices. The Republicans swept the board as it were, taking control of all state office from the Governor on down.
The State legislature, both House and Senate also hold Republican supermajorities. This means that the Democrats can be pretty much ignored for the next couple of years. It also means that the Republicans need to produce. Here are the details from Newsmax:
Come January, the GOP will control every elected statewide office in Louisiana after Republicans swept three runoff races for attorney general, secretary of state and treasurer Saturday night.
The GOP success, in a state that has had a Democrat in the governor’s office for the past eight years, means that Republicans secured all of Louisiana’s statewide offices for the first time since 2015. In addition, the GOP holds a two-third supermajority in the House and Senate.
And this means that the Republicans can do a lot to clean up the state. Louisiana has a long history of corruption. It’s also been primarily under Democrat control, which explains a lot of the corruption. (Not that the GOP was without sin. They just didn’t have that much opportunity for graft)
Despite a low voter turnout, Saturday’s election caught the eye of Trump, who endorsed the Republican candidates in each of the three statewide races.
The three Republicans “are outstanding in every way and have my complete and total endorsement,” Trump said in a statement issued by the Louisiana Republican Party.
Reading through the story, it looks like the winners are also people who support President Trump and his basic ideas of Making America Great Again. This also doesn’t bode well for the Democrats in 2024. As long as the Republican Base can keep the RINO’s at the RNC and congress under control, or better yet, get rid of that loser Ronna McDaniel, they have a very good chance of taking control of the Senate and expanding control of the House, not to mention bring back the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump.
The new Louisiana state government is set to be sworn in to office in January. Hopefully, they have a solid plan ready to be implemented that will break the Democratic Socialists in that state permanently.
