Good day all. There is a woman who is a very popular singer by the name of Taylor Swift. Her fans, called “Swifties” are very protective of Taylor Swift, and when Time Magazine named her their Person of the year the Swifties started having multiple orgasms in their joy.
Then we have CNN commentator Chris Wallace. It appears that he is not a fan of Taylor Swift. He was not happy about her being selected Time’s Woman of the Year and let fly on his show, CNN’s the Chris Wallace Show. It hasn’t gone well for him. Here are the details from Radar Online:
Chris Wallace’s ratings dropped by more than 50% as the CNN host criticized TIME for naming Taylor Swift the magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year, RadarOnline.com can report. Wallace slammed TIME over the weekend after the magazine officially announced that Swift, 33, was 2023’s Person of the Year on Wednesday.
“Taylor Swift found a way to transcend borders and be a source of light,” the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Sam Jacobs, wrote last week. “Swift is the rare person who is both the writer and hero of her own story.”
Just for honesty’s sake and of course, to provide due diligence, I don’t care at all about Taylor Swift or her music. It’s nice that she has succeeded in a tough business, but she and her music have no relevance to me, and I don’t listen to her. This isn’t stopping me from pushing Swift merchandise below. If you like her, then good for you. Apparently, Chris Wallace is not as neutral as I am about Ms. Swift.
But according to the struggling CNN host, TIME only gave Swift the Person of the Year cover as a “marketing play.”
“To me, it sure looks like a pure marketing play for a magazine that used to have a circulation of more than 4 million and is now down to a little more than 1 million,” he said during Saturday’s episode of The Chris Wallace Show.
First, I didn’t know that Wallace still had a show. He was hired away from Fox News, much to the consternation of absolutely no one, and set up on the epic failure known as CNN+. When CNN+ failed, I thought he had been shown the door like everyone else associated with that debacle. Apparently, I was mistaken, I stand corrected.
Second, is Wallace a complete and utter moron? Well, yes, he is, but let me run with this. Taylor Swift has probably hundreds of millions of fans globally. Wallace’s fan base consists of himself, his staff and a few family members, and the cat lady down the street. It looks like she may have also been a Swiftie as well.
While Wallace slammed TIME for naming Swift its 2023 Person of the Year, Nielsen data from the CNN host’s last five shows found that Wallace himself has lost more than 50% of his viewers in the all-important 25-54 demographic.
Wallace tried to say that he wasn’t against Taylor Swift, only that he didn’t approve of her being the person of the year. (I remember when Time used to have a Man and Woman of the Year, none of this politically Correct Woke trash)
“Let me be clear from the jump: I like Taylor Swift,” he said. “Although I prefer her earlier songs like You Belong with Me to some of her more recent stuff.”
“And I understand she has a huge cultural and economic force,” Wallace continued. “But when TIME magazine this week named her its Person of the Year, I thought, oh, please.”
Personally, I don’t care if Taylor Swift is named Time’s Person of the Year. Time’s relevance these days is minimal. I was surprised when I found out a few years ago that they actually still existed. As for Wallace’s comments that he liked Taylor Swift? That I find hard to believe and it looks like the Swifites aren’t buying what Wallace is trying to sell.
Journalist Kara Swisher admonished Wallace for his controversial take. Lulu Garcia-Navarro demanded that the CNN host remove his Swifty bracelet.
“What is the issue with her? They do this all the time,” Swisher argued. “And the last thing is media trying to attract an audience. You’re kidding me.”
“Of course they’re trying to attract an audience,” she added. “And she is someone lots of people really like and have consumed a lot of her content.”
“I do not think it was a good article,” Garcia-Navarro chimed in. “That said, I do think you need to give your Swifty bracelet back.”
Chris Wallace should stay away from the entertainment world and just continue with CNN’s standard mission of “Protect the Biden’s!” and “Get Trump!” He is even more out of touch with the entertainment world then I am, and I don’t pay all that much attention to it unless something attracts my attention. (Like the pending collapse of Disney Corp)
Wallace’s controversial remarks about Swift and TIME on Saturday came less than one week after the CNN host came under fire for telling actor Adam Driver that he doesn’t “look like a typical movie star.”
Adam Driver is a very good actor when he’s provided with a good script and a good director. (A few things missing from the last three Star Wars movies) He’s also a medically discharged member of the United States Marine Corps. He was injured in an accident just before he was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan. Chris Wallace isn’t worthy of shining Mr. Drivers shoes with his tongue.
I wonder how much longer CNN will continue wasting money on this failed enterprise called the Chris Wallace Show? Granted, he is under contract, but they must have written some sort of “Thank you, however your services are no longer required.” codicil into it. Of course, this is CNN and Wallace is a good progressive shill for the Democrat Party. The question remains, just how much longer are they going to throw money into the bonfire that is the Chris Wallace Show?

And happy birthday to Taylor Swift!
