Good day all. This story broke Thursday, February 15th. Disney corporation has been hit with a civil rights complaint due to their DEI policies. The complaint has been filed with the EEOC and is, as I understand it, the first step before lawsuits are filed.
I’ve written a few things about Disney over the last year. Disney has managed to machine gun themselves in both feet and the head with their Woke policies. Almost every movie they’ve released in the last year has bombed, and the parks are seeing major drop offs in attendance. They also are in the middle of a proxy fight with Nelson Peltz and Bib Iger, the CEO has managed to annoy Elon Musk.
Now their blatant racism in their employment practices has come home to roost and the first steps in Smashing the Mouse are now underway. Here are the details from Newsmax:
The conservative nonprofit group America First Legal (AFL) filed a federal civil rights complaint against Disney for practices that intentionally discriminate “against White men, Christians and Jews.”
In its 16-page complaint filed to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on Wednesday, AFL accuses Disney of unlawful racial discrimination for violating Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
As I said, this came out on Thursday and a lot of legal analysis is currently underway. I have been listing to “Andrew Esquire” of The Legal Mindset YouTube channel. He is a Florida based lawyer, currently living abroad and has a lot of first hand data on the shenanigans of Disney Corporation. He had a live stream on the complaint going into the details. He is not surprised at the complaint.
AFL includes in its complaint documents that were leaked this month to Elon Musk, including a requirement that 50% of certain jobs be filled by members of “underrepresented groups.” Those jobs include regular and recurring actors and characters in Disney content; producers and writing staff; overall crew or project staff; and line producers and/or production department heads.
Oh boy, hiring quotas, and it looks like Elon and company have actual documentation. Nice Going Bob!
“Disney appears to be engaged in pervasive, far-reaching, and illegal race and sex discrimination in violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act,” AFL President Stephen Miller said in its release. “Accordingly, we have filed a formal complaint with the EEOC that Disney is engaged in illegal conduct.
Anyone who has been paying attention for the last few years knows that Disney has been pushing a racist woke agenda on everyone. You see it in their movies. They hire people because they fill a check box, not because they actually know what they are doing. All the good people were either forced out or got fed up and quit. Now they’re working at Universal.
“It is sad and tragic that a company whose name was once synonymous with wholesome and charming childhood fantasies is now dedicated to spreading divisive bigotry. … We urge Disney to cease and desist its unlawful and destructive conduct at once.”
Disney used to be seen by families as a great place for children. Then the DEI pushers in Human Resources got control and instead we see the local police arresting Disney employees for going after and grooming the children they should be entertaining and protecting. Parents would turn on the Disney channel and use it as a babysitter while they worked around the house. Those days are long gone.
Musk on Feb. 8 published Disney’s DEI standards on X, the social media platform that he owns. In one post, Musk said Disney’s diversity programs are “enforced by Disney’s DEI Gestapo.”
“It is patently unlawful to consider racial, ethnic, and sex-based characteristics in hiring, training, compensation, and promotion,” AFL wrote to the EEOC. “Decades of case law have held that policies that impose racial balancing or quotas in employment, training, or recruitment, such as those presented on Disney’s websites, are prohibited.”
I saw something about that but really didn’t understand it. As I recall, and take this with some salt please, there was a poster that basically said white men are evil and that they can be treated the way Blacks were back in the old plantation slave days before the civil war. Elon Musk got a copy of it and posted it on “X”.
Musk posted Disney’s “inclusion standards,” a document he said came from an anonymous source. He also posted an invitation to receive legal support for anyone who was discriminated against by Disney.
The link goes to Musk’s twitter feed and shows an image of the Disney “Inclusion Standards.” As mentioned before, those “Standards” and they appear to be mandatory, are illegal. Now a formal complaint has been filed with the EEOC. The EEOC doesn’t have to act on the complaint and if they don’t, I assume the AFL can then file a lawsuit in federal court.
Normally, Disney’s lawyers would play their usual game of stalling, but this isn’t something like the usual actions they deal with. This is a Federal Civil Rights case, and while Disney may try to play their usual games, I suspect that the judge who is assigned to this is going to hammer them for it. It is early days of course, but this is just another nail in the coffin that Mickey is going to probably be buried in.
