Good day all. As we all know, New York City, The Big Apple, is now rotten to the core. All the hard work down by Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been flushed down the drain and into the East River by a succession of one incompetent boob after the other.
With the election or Eric Adams, a former police officer, people initially breathed a sigh of relief that arguably the worst mayor in living memory was gone and soon forgotten. Oh how mistaken they were. Adams quickly proved that he was even more incompetent then Bill de Blasio. Adams, along with the Manhattan DA, Bonehead Bragg, have turned New York City into a place people leave, not come into. Now Adams is saying that crime is down even though it is at the highest levels in 20+ years. Here are the details from the New York Post:
Serious crime spiked again last year to levels unseen in nearly two decades, according to internal NYPD data obtained by The Post — even as Mayor Eric Adams has repeatedly claimed that “crime is down” in the Big Apple.
For the second year in a row under Adams, overall crime was on the rise — driven by a historic surge in assaults, which neared 28,000 for the first time in the city’s publicly recorded history, according to the police department’s rolling report.
The report tracks the tally of seven major felony offenses after the time of arrest to when cases move to district attorneys, who decide whether to upgrade, downgrade or stick with the charge. For instance, a perp who punches someone might be charged with a misdemeanor at first, but if the victim’s condition later worsens, the prosecutor could boost it to a felony.
With regards to that sort of charge, there are a number of variables that need to be considered. Was it two people in a fight? Basically squaring off with each other, or was it what we’ve been seeing a lot of in NYC, some scumbag just coming up on a person and slugging them for no reason whatsoever? Of late, it’s been the latter, and with a Soros DA, they will downgrade the charges or drop them altogether no matter what the victim of the attack might want.
The count of major felonies — which include murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, grand larceny and car thefts — is generally used as a benchmark for success year after year.
I think you can see why the DA’s office will downgrade or drop charges whenever possible. It makes the city look bad.
While Adams has been touting his success in his war against crime, citing a slight dip reported at the end of 2023, the rolling report shows that the early-year victory lap was premature.
Insert something oh really? Shocked if not used?
The number of seven major crimes in 2023 jumped to 127,111 once around 430 upgrades were accounted for, marking the highest totals since 2006 for the second year in a row, according to the police data. Police sources said it could get even worse — as historically up to 800 crimes are upgraded in the rolling report annually before the final tally is set for that year.
New York City and State are typical Democrat controlled cities and states. Massive increases in crime, lying about it to make themselves look good and competent, and then doing everything they can to prevent people from protecting themselves. (Gun bans)
In recent months, the mayor has been banging the drum about his administration’s success in combating crime, proclaiming “our strategy is working” in his State of the City speech in January.
The New York Post then goes into details and statistics which I won’t bore you with. You can read them yourself. Adams and his minions have been denying the problem for years and like all good progressives, blaming everyone else for the increasing crime rate, starting with the media.
Hizzoner has tried of late to tamp down criticism of the soaring unlawfulness as a “perception problem” — despite feeding into that public narrative during his first year in office before blaming the media for reporting on crime.
“We need to address that perception and we need to address the actual crime numbers,” he said March 19 from City Hall.
“I was brutalized when I used the term perception, now all of y’all are talking about perception. Just about all your articles now, it’s like, people don’t feel safe, they have to perceive just as what.
“This is what I was saying from the beginning! The perception of being safe must equal the numbers of the actual safety.”
In short, Adams is basically saying “Believe me, not your lying eyes”
It was also a key message in his optimistic State of the City speech in which he played down the migrant crisis and heralded the administration for bringing the city “back from the brink.”
“New Yorkers were rightfully concerned about their safety, their security and their families,” he said, adding, “Our first order of business was clear: Get crime under control.”
So when are you going to get started on this? Sometime this year?
A mayoral rep insisted in a statement that the city is safer now than when Adams took office.
“Mayor Adams has been clear that public safety is the key to prosperity, and in a little more than two years in office, our administration has been successful in driving down major crimes like shootings, murders, burglaries, grand larcenies, and more,” spokesperson Kayla Mamelak said.
Democratic political consultant Ken Frydman said the Adams admin needs to hone its mixed messaging so as not to appear merely reactive.
“The mayor needs consistent crime messaging for New Yorkers and out-of-towners,” he said. “Are the subways and streets safe or unsafe? Is violent crime random or a growing trend? Is the threat of violent crime real or perception?”
It isn’t the messaging you useless little turd, it’s the crime rate. The political hacks keep “Juking the numbers,” trying to make things look better then they actually are. (FYI, I first heard the term on Bosch when one of the characters found out that her command was faking crime stats) This is plain fraud and putting people at risk. Add to that the Progressive Liberal Democrats outright suppression of people’s to keep and bear arms and you have an actual wild west situation.
The only way to fix things is to go back to the old Giuliani plan which was simple. Zero tolerance for any criminal activity. His plan was simple. Stop deal with the small crimes and the big ones take care of themselves. That and restoring the constitution for the average citizen in the People’s Republic New York would go a long way to solving the crime problem for real. After all, Dead criminals commit zero crimes.
