Good day all. Israel is winding down operations in Gaza, going into what is called the “Mop Up” phase. The IDF still has a few Hamas terrorists that need to be terminated with extreme prejudice, and low order operations may go on for a while. In the mean time, the clean up is beginning, starting with filling in all the tunnels and disposing all the Hamas weapons, explosives and manufacturing tooling.
This is where the bloviating blowhards from the kleptocracy on the Hudson, aka the United Nations come in. They are furious that Israel has booted the UNRWA, (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees), from Gaza after they were found to have actively aided in the October 7th attack. This is going to make it harder for the kleptos to embezzle money for their own use. Now they are saying that it could take 350 years for Gaza to be rebuilt. Here are the details from Newsmax:
U.N. agencies have long warned that it could take decades to rebuild Gaza after Israel’s offensive against Hamas, one of the deadliest and most destructive military campaigns since World War II. Now, more than a year into the war, a new report speaks in terms of centuries.
The Israeli Defense Forces tried to minimize the destruction. The problem was Hamas. They deliberately stored weapons and explosives in schools, hospitals, mosques, apartment buildings and private homes. They were also tunneling all over, or under to be accurate, Gaza and packing the tunnels with rockets, shells and other things that go boom. There are any number of videos where the Israelis drop a small smart bomb on a tunnel and it triggered a massive secondary explosion that would take out entire city blocks.
The U.N. Conference on Trade and Development said in a report released Monday that if the war ends tomorrow and Gaza returns to the status quo before Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel, it could take 350 years for its battered economy to return to its precarious prewar level.
There was no economy to speak of before Hamas Eff’d around and the Found out. They were stealing billions of dollars meant to help the Palestinians build an economic infrastructure and using it to buy weapons and build tunnels. The Israeli blockade is standard operating procedure in time of war. Israel will lift the blockade once they know they won’t have to worry about further terrorist attacks coming out of Gaza.
Three hundred and fifty years is a long time. It would be as though England and the Netherlands were only now recovering from the wars they fought against each other in the late 1600s.
Under the UN’s “Math,” Europe would still be cleaning up the rubble from World War 1, never mind World War 2. World War 2 saw the flat out leveling of Germany and Japan with serious damage to the nations occupied by Nazi Germany. The last time I looked, about the only clean up still happening is when they stumble on unexploded bombs.
Rami Alazzeh, author of the report, said he based the calculation on the decimation of the economy during the first seven months of the war, and how long it would take to restore it at the GDP growth rate Gaza averaged from 2007 until 2022. Gross domestic product, or GDP, is the sum total of all goods and services produced in a country or territory.
“The message is the recovery in Gaza depends on the conditions in which the recovery would happen,” he said. “We’re not saying that it will take Gaza 350 years to recover because that means that Gaza will never recover.”
So, basically, you pulled all this out of your ass. The article, which is from the Associated with terrorists Press, goes on to list all sorts of alleged economic numbers regarding the Gaza strip, both before and as of now. While I don’t deny the apparent damage done, I do have serious issues with the economic claims. They aren’t taking into consideration all the money and resources Hamas looted and put to use making and buying weapons.
Hamas-led militants killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted another 250 when they stormed into southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Around 100 captives are still inside Gaza, a third of whom are believed to be dead.
Sadly, no one is holding out much hope for those still missing. Some may have been killed accidentally when Hamas explosives went up in secondary detonations, others probably died from abuse and their bodies disposed of, and others murdered when IDF forces may have been nearby.
Israel’s offensive has killed over 42,000 Palestinians, according to local health officials, who don’t distinguish combatants from civilians but say more than half the dead are women and children. It has displaced around 90% of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million, forcing hundreds of thousands into squalid tent camps.
Yeah abut those “Local Health Officials.” That is the Gaza Ministry of Health and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hamas Terrorists Inc. The IDF has gone out of their way to try and minimize civilian causalities where Hamas has been doing everything they can to maximize them. Thanks to the huge amount of carelessly stored munitions, some actually stored in children’s bedrooms.
Since May, Israel has controlled all of Gaza’s border crossings. U.N. agencies and humanitarian groups say they have struggled to bring in food and emergency aid because of Israeli restrictions, ongoing fighting and the breakdown of law and order inside Gaza.
One of the problems is that Hamas has been stealing supplies coming in for the civilians. You also have the IDF checking the packages for weapons and I believe they have found contraband. (I might be mistaken here)
There’s also no indication that international donors are willing to fund the rebuilding of Gaza as long as it remains in the grip of war or under Israeli occupation.
Arab Gulf states like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have said they will only do so if there is a pathway to a Palestinian state, something to which Netanyahu is deeply opposed.
The Palestinians had there chance and lived down to their reputation of never missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Recently, the IDF web back into Northern Gaza due to Hamas regrouping. They simply refuse to just give up and try something else, like not being terrorists. The problem is that the Palestinians want every Israeli man, woman and child dead. There is no middle ground.
I suspect that in the end, Gaza will be annexed by Israel. The Palestinians living there will be given the option of becoming Israeli citizens with all rights and responsibilities of any Israeli citizen. There are Arabs, Muslims and some Palestinians who have done just that. The other option will be removing the Palestinians from Gaza and forcing them elsewhere, such as Lebanon, Syria or Egypt. Only then, when the troublemakers are removed, will Gaza be able to rebuild. One thing is certain, any rebuilding will need to keep the UN’s grimy paws far away.
