Democrats considering creation of Shadow Cabinet

Good day all, The Democrats are still in denial that they have been tossed aside and that the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump is coming back and with a vengeance.

This has led the Democrats and other TDS sufferers to do a whole host of idiotic things. One of these idiots has proposed creating a “Shadow Cabinet” to fight President Trump and the Republicans. Here are the details from Fox News:

With President-elect Trump headed back to the White House and Republicans in the majority in Congress, Democrats have few options to push back against the GOP agenda.

It would nice to see the Democrats have no options, but, sadly, the GOP doesn’t have a filibuster proof majority…yet.

But one enterprising North Carolina lawmaker thinks his minority party should look across the pond to the United Kingdom for the answer to “go toe to toe” with Trump. Rep. Wiley Nickels, D-N.C., has proposed that Democrats create a “shadow cabinet” to organize the opposition and challenge each decision by the government.

“Across the Atlantic, the British have something we don’t: a team from the opposition that mirrors the government’s cabinet members. They watch the cabinet closely, publicly challenging, scrutinizing and offering new ideas. It’s another form of checks and balances — a quiet guardrail that keeps power accountable,” Wiley argues in an op-ed for the Washington Post.

I wonder if this moron understands that the United States does not use the parliamentarian form of government? I suspect not.

His proposal is to appoint 26 Democratic leaders in Congress to mirror Trump’s Cabinet-level officials and challenge each initiative of the incoming administration. Sen.-elect Adam Schiff, D-Calif., for instance, could be a shadow attorney general who would call out Trump’s efforts to replace career Justice Department attorneys with those loyal to the president. Or Rep. Gregory W. Meeks, D-N.Y., might be a shadow Secretary of State who would loudly oppose potential action by the Trump administration that would decrease support for Ukraine in its war with Russia.

Perhaps this fool might want to actually learn why the British and other countries that use the parliamentarian system have shadow cabinets. I suspect not. First, under the British system, when the winning party or parties form a new government, the new cabinet members are also ministers of Parliament. They don’t resign their seats.

In the United States, due to the separation of powers, a sitting member of congress may not also hold a position in the administration. This is why you are seeing members of the House that are joining the Trump administration preparing to resign their seats in Congress once they’ve been confirmed.

Second, when the “Loyal Opposition,” (Something the Democrats most certainly are not. Loyal that is), puts together a shadow cabinet, it’s for the purpose of stepping into the role should the current government collapse. This is something that can happen quite often in countries that use the parliamentarian system, and is one of the reasons the founders of the United States chose not to. They wanted the stability of scheduled elections.

In the U.K., a shadow cabinet is a team of opposition leaders that reflect the ruling party’s cabinet members. The shadow cabinet has a counterpart for every minister in the ruling coalition’s government.

It’s a system Nickel argues has worked for a century.

“They watch the Cabinet closely, publicly challenging, scrutinizing and offering new ideas,” Nickel wrote in his op-ed. “It’s democracy’s insurance policy. And it strengthens the government, too: There is no room for lazy ideas when rivals stand ready.”

Then I suggest you resign your seat and immigrate to the UK. Once there, give up your United States citizenship and become a British subject/Citizen. Then you can run for Parliament and join your shadow cabinet. You won’t of course.

The Fox article then goes into the British Parliamentarian system and the American system. I won’t bother to quote it since it basically says what I just wrote.

In an interview with LiveNow from FOX, Nickel clarified that his idea is a “communications push.”

“It’s about putting out our positive message to counter what we’re seeing from Trump. And if Trump or his Cabinet secretaries step out of line we’ve got somebody ready to go and answer, and be accountable to the American people on things we care about,” he explained.

So where were you with all the actions by the Biden Maladministration? Oh yeah, right. You supported all the moves to suppress the rights of people who didn’t follow the Progressive Liberal Democrat narratives. You were just fine with the weaponization of the Department of Justice. You had no problem with sending out FBI agents to arrest people on trumped up charges. In other words, you are a typical Progressive Liberal Democrat. A lying hypocrite.

“This is about putting a point person for advocacy groups, for the public, a lead messenger … we need to organize our opposition,” Nickel said. “We can do our own American version of a [shadow cabinet] that will help Democrats do the thing we didn’t do, which is get out our positive message and talk about the things that folks are rightly concerned about.”

What positive message? The Democrats haven’t had anything positive to say in decades. The recent election, it wasn’t the Democrats that were talking about improving things, it was President Trump and the Republicans. Who can forget Kamala Harris being stumped by the question “What would you do differently from President Biden?”

I don’t know what is happening with this “Cunning Plan” by Nickels. It may be something that he dreamed up to get some attention. Considering the caliber of the picks by President Trump, he may have just given up. The people President Trump has been nominating are far more intelligent then the Democrats that are being talked about as part of the “Shadow Cabinet.”

If the Democrats try to pull their usual crap with the nominees, they are going to get slammed so hard, they will be nothing more than a virtual smear on the ground. I think that someone told Nickels to just drop the whole idea. Frankly, they have a lot more to worry about if the Trump DoJ decides to do actual investigations into the Democrat Party’s actions for the last, oh, I don’t know, 160 years. In any case, this was just a typical Democrat dumb idea that we can all ignore.
