Meta, (Facebook), admits what everyone knows. They censor content

Good day all. One of the major issues with Facebook is their constant censoring of people with opinions that Facebook doesn’t like. I myself have seen posts being yanked for bogus reasons.

This problem has been so bad that Congress has taken notice. There were hearings of course a lot of noise accomplishing nothing.

Then President Trump crushed Kackling Kamala Harris. If anyone has a reason to want to deal with Socialist Media sites, it is President Trump. Seeing the writing on the wall, Mark Zuckerberg went to Mar-a-lago and bent the knee to President Trump. Now Meta is admitting that they have been actively censoring conservative speech. Here are the details from the Daily Fetched:

Just over a week after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with President-elect Donald Trump at Maro-a-Lago, a Facebook senior executive openly admitted that the platform excessively censored Conservative voices.

Former British deputy prime minister Nick Clegg, who serves as Meta’s president of global affairs, acknowledged the company’s “errors” in content moderation, admitting the current system destroys free speech while emphasizing the need for enhanced precision and accuracy for future moderation.

I think someone is beginning to understand that the times, they are a changing.

We know that when enforcing our policies, our error rates are still too high, which gets in the way of the free expression that we set out to enable,” Clegg said.

Too often, harmless content gets taken down or restricted, and too many people get penalized unfairly.”

The problems for Facebook are numerous. With regards to the Panicdemic, when people started questioning the narratives, Facebook promptly removed posts, and either shadow banned or flat out were kicked off the platform. It was flat out censorship in violation of the 1st Amendment and in violation of section 230 of the Telecommunications act. Facebook and most of the other Socialist Media companies are in danger of losing that protection and that will open them up to massive amounts of litigation. (Twitter would have also been at risk, but Elon Musk has been correcting that issue)

While he argued that Facebook‘s decisions during the pandemic were driven by uncertainty, he said that in hindsight, such measures were overly strict.

Despite the company’s admission to over-censoring content, Threads—another Meta-owned social media platform engaged in erroneous takedowns such as suppressing a photo of President-elect Donald Trump’s assassination attempt, which later forced them to issue a public apology.

I don’t use Threads and have never been on it. (I also have no interest in visiting the site) I do recall that several Socialist Media sites, (I think Faceplant itself was one of them), banned the iconic image claiming it was fake. These sites were slammed so hard their collectivist heads are still spinning.

Ahead of the U.S. presidential election, the company’s Oversight Board has also raised alarms about the risk of excessive removal of political speech.

That can be laid at the doorstep of their AI and the few people still looking at things. Most of the political speech was in regards to supporting President Trump or otherwise blasting the Democrats and Kamala Harris. I was hit with a few of these myself. I hit the review button and that was denied in less then 15 seconds. Obviously, no one actually bothered to look.

Now that President Trump is coming back into office, the Socialist Media sites, such as Facebook, Google and others that have been banning any moderate or conservative speech, or people questioning certain narratives, are starting to get really worried. They should.

Now, Zuckerberg’s recent meeting with Trump signals a willingness to change their tune.

To little, to late Markie.

Facebook is still yet to implement significant changes to its content rules since the election. For instance, The Daily Fetched’s reach is still completely throttled on Facebook, and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.

However, Clegg hinted that new updates might be in the cards, referring to the rules as a “living, breathing document.”

Is this the same type “Living document” that most Leftards, including a few on the Supreme Court, call the Constitution of the United States? If so, then, to quote the late Anton Scalia, it needs to receive a good judicial throttling, and these “Community Standards” that Facebook love to throw around need to go right into the trash.

I think you’re seeing people like Zuckerberg coming to Mar-a-lago and “Bending the knee” for one simple reason. Section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934 and the updated version, the Telecommunications act of 1996. This was designed to protect computer services such as Facebook from civil liability.

However, there was an exception. If the companies acted as publishers, then they weren’t protected and could be held civilly liable for the content. Basically, if they edited or removed content that wasn’t explicitly illegal, such as pictures involving children and perverts, then they couldn’t be sued.

All of the socialist media companies, up until about 2023, routinely censored content that the management and/or staffers didn’t like. That started to fall apart when two things happened. Elon Musk bought Twitter, renamed it to “X” and released the Twitter Files showing how the previous owners actively suppressed any speech that the company, and the government didn’t approve of.

The second thing was the creation of Truth Social by President Trump. That gave people booted or otherwise suppressed by Twitter and other platforms a place to go. Now with President Trump returning to office, there are quite a few people on Capitol Hill who are thinking the time has come to revisit Section 230 with regards to companies like Meta/Facebook that act more like publishers then the billboards they claim to be.

If companies like Meta and Google lose their section 230 protections, they are going to be hammered in court. They are seeing the writing on the wall and have started to panic. This is why you are seeing people like Zuckerberg come out and admit they’ve gone to far. They have to much, as in billions of dollars, to lose.
