Venezuela threatens to invade Puerto Rico

Good day all. With all the news that’s been going on, this one seems to have slipped under the radar. It seems that the Dictator of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro has decided to celebrate the return of the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump, by threatening to invade Puerto Rico.

Maduro recently rigged another election and is now in his third term. Between him and his predecessor, Hugo Chavez, they took a country that, while it had problems, had a good, growing economy, and completely wrecked it. During the previous Trump administration, Maduro would repeatedly claim that the United States was going to invade. Obviously, this didn’t happen. One reason was that no one cared about a banana republic that wasn’t any real threat to the United States. Now that President Trump is coming back, Maduro has decided to double down on stupid. Here are the details from Fox News:

The governor of Puerto Rico pleaded for President-elect Trump to intervene after Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro threatened to invade the U.S. island territory.

In a letter addressed to Trump, Gov. Jenniffer González-Colón said, “[J]ust a few days after holding an illegitimate swearing-in ceremony in a desperate attempt to cling to power in Venezuela,” Maduro “publicly proposed an invasion of Puerto Rico.”

I think that Governor Gonzalez-Colon might be a bit panicked for no real reason. While Maduro is a moron, he doesn’t have the means to actually carry out his threat.

Maduro, who was sworn in for a third six-year presidential term despite international condemnation of his recent reelection as illegitimate, made the threat Saturday at the end of the “International Anti-Fascist Festival” hosted in Caracas. The socialist dictator made an apparent reference to Trump’s remarks eyeing U.S. control of the Panama Canal and Greenland, stating: “Just as the North has an agenda of colonization, we have an agenda of liberation.” Maduro vowed that the “freedom of Puerto Rico is pending, and we will achieve it with Brazilian troops,” according to Latin America Reports.

It looks like Maduro is trying to get the other Central and South American countries to join him and try doing something really really stupid. While there may be a few idiots in Brazil who might sign on with Maduro, I think the rest would rather just do business and not try picking a fight they can’t win. Still, someone may want to make a call to the new Governor, Gonzales-Colon and tell her to stop panicking.

“This is an open threat to the United States, our national security, and stability in the region,” González-Colón told Trump. “I trust your incoming administration will swiftly respond and make clear to the Maduro regime that, under your leadership, the United States, will protect American lives and sovereignty and will not bow down to the threats of petty, murderous dictators.”

Yes, it was a threat against the United States and Maduro, if he were actually serious and not trying to make points, doesn’t seem to understand what would happen if he did try invading Puerto Rico. The island is a part of the United States, just like Texas and California. You invade, or should I say try and invade us, we wipe you out. Besides, has anyone bothered to ask the Puerto Ricans what they want regarding independence?

“Contrary to Maduro’s and other adversaries’ calls for independence, the people of Puerto Rico have repeatedly rejected this option. Instead, we have voted to strengthen our union with the United States through statehood – most recently in the November 5, 2024, plebiscite held alongside our general elections,” González-Colón wrote, referring to the latest nonbinding referendum regarding Puerto Rico’s political status

The results showed 56.87% voted in favor of U.S. statehood, while 12.29% opted for “free association with the United States.” Meanwhile, 30.84% voted for independence.

There are a lot of Americans who want Puerto Rico to make up their minds. Not a few people wouldn’t mind “Granting them independence” just to get them out of our hair. (They, sadly, have a serious corruption problem. They also vote Democrat far to much)

“Maduro’s calls for an invasion are a clear attempt to get rid of the United States’ presence and grow his influence in the area,” González-Colón wrote, telling Trump that she’s “ready to work with you and your administration to counter this and other threats posed by the illegitimate Maduro dictatorship and support the people of Venezuela in their quest for freedom.”

If Maduro and Venezuela were to actually try to invade Puerto Rico, the best case scenario for them would be the complete destruction of their infrastructure and well as a few JDAM’s addressed to Maduro personally. The worst case?

Rep. Mario Rafael Díaz-Balart, R-Fla., commended González-Colón’s “leadership in condemning the absurd and pathetic threats to Puerto Rico from Venezuela’s dictator – a dictator who is desperately clinging to illegitimate power.”

“What a contrast to the courage and inspiration demonstrated by the Venezuelan people and heroine María Corina Machado,” Díaz-Balart wrote. “With Biden in the White House, adversaries such as those within the Maduro narco-dictatorship have been emboldened by his weak policy of appeasement. But in less than a week, a new foreign policy will begin where freedom and U.S. national security interests are paramount. Friends will be treated as friends, and adversaries as adversaries.”

That’s a rather wordy way of saying “The corrupt, incompetent Senile Pedophile is gone and now we’re bringing back someone who won’t hesitate to go all Jackson on your asses.” This is what Maduro and a few other nuts seem to have forgotten. President Trump doesn’t want to send American forces into Harms way unless there is a real reason to do so. When he does, his basic Rules of Engagement tend to be “Do whatever it takes to get rid of these losers.” Just ask the Wagner Group and Qasem Soleimani. Oh wait! You can’t! They were wiped out.

“Maduro’s days are numbered,” the congressman added. “If the dictator in Venezuela does not want to end up like other dictators Mussolini and Gaddafi, he should leave Venezuela without delay.”

Maduro won’t, even though, like all dictators and tyrants,, he’s looted the nations treasury. One issue is where would he go? He can forget Argentina. They are moving in the opposite direction and President Melei is busy Making Argentina Great Again. He doesn’t have any use for the likes of Maduro.

Personally, I think this is Maduro just blowing smoke trying to make himself look tough and manly. All it is doing is showing how weak he really is. Even if he wanted to try and invade Puerto Rico, he doesn’t have the ability to do so, and if he did, the response from the United States would be overwhelming and totally disproportionate. While he might have tried something under a Harris maladministration, President Trump is a proven commodity. I expect he’s getting a nice back channel message that amounts to “Thinking about invading Puerto Rico? That’s a nice country you have there, Be a shame of something happened to it.”
