Good day all. President Trump and his team hit the ground running minutes after he took the Oath of Office. Within hours, he had freed the January 6th political prisoners, (Although it appears that the DC jail is refusing to release these people), and has started his reorganization of the bureaucracy.
One of the first things he did was appoint acting directors of the FBI, DHS, DoJ and other departments and agencies. These people are in place pending the confirmation of President Trump’s designated appointees. This has already sent shock waves through the DoJ and FBI as the acting directors started moving people around. Here are some of the details from the New York Post:
The Trump administration has reportedly reassigned more than a dozen career Justice Department officials, including one who played a central role in pushing for the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago.
The new assignments — given to at least 15 longtime officials — will see the federal employees remain within DOJ but in roles where they are expected to wield less influence on the department’s major decisions, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday.
Frankly, I think most of them should be terminated, with some potentially prosecuted. The rot in the DoJ and FBI is very deep and requires major surgery.
Some officials were notified they were being transferred just hours after President Trump was sworn in on Monday, according to the outlet.
This can’t have come as a surprise to them. I find it interesting that none of them had “Retired” prior to the inauguration.
Deputy Assistant Attorney General George Toscas, who has served in the DOJ’s National Security Division for nearly 20 years, is reportedly among the officials being moved.
Toscas was a key figure in the DOJ’s push for the August 2022 FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, after the 45th president allegedly defied the National Archives’ repeated requests for White House documents from his first term in office.
That raid has come back to haunt the DoJ and FBI. They FO’d in 2022 and now the FA has arrived.
Toscas fumed to FBI officials that he didn’t “give a damn about the optics” of an unprecedented raid on a former president’s home during a combative call between the DOJ and the bureau’s Washington Field Office ahead of the issuance of a warrant to search for the documents, court filings in former special counsel Jack Smith’s dismissed classified documents case against Trump show.
“You and your leadership seem to have gone from cautious to fearful,” Toscas reportedly wrote in an email to the former head of the FBI Washington Field Office, Steven D’Antuono, after the phone call, according to NBC News.
Of course they were fearful. They didn’t want to get shot and there is a fair chance that if certain things had happened, a full blown battle between FBI agents and armed citizens could have happened. Aside from the so called “Optics,” this could have gone sideways very easily.
Fortunately for the FBI, President Trump and his family weren’t on site that day and the Secret Service detail was smaller then normal. Even so, when the news broke, hundreds of armed citizens started heading for Mar-a-lago before it was known that Trump and family weren’t there.
Toscas has reportedly been reassigned to the DOJ’s new Office of Sanctuary Cities Enforcement.
Not quite to the level of checking the office supplies but close to it.
The transferred employees may opt to resign from DOJ altogether rather than take the new roles.
Good. Perhaps they will take the hint. One of the claims by the Progressive Liberal Democrats is that all these moves and other requirements will cause thousands of bureaucrats to resign. They don’t seem to understand that this is exactly what the Trump administration wants. If they resign, it saves them the time and effort to fire them.
When President Trump came into office in 2017, he wanted to drain the swamp. However, he wasn’t prepared for the flat out revolt by the Deep State, Uniparty and the bureaucracy. He thought that they would actually be neutral and put Americans and the nation first. We saw just how mistaken in this belief President Trump and his good people were.
This time, President Trump is ready and he is well prepared. We are at the early stages of the second Administration and now we’re seeing just how prepared President Trump and his team are. They aren’t making the mistakes they made the first time around. Now they are going after all the Obama and Biden holdovers and either getting rid of them or moving them into positions where they can’t get in the way. Stand by, the fun is just beginning.
