Federal I.T. Staffers quit rather then help DOGE

Good day all. Not many people realize that when President Trump activated the Department of Government Efficiency, he didn’t just create a new department. He repurposed one that already existed, the United States Digital Service and renamed it the Department of Government Efficiency.

This change hasn’t made the original staffers happy. In fact, they are so unhappy, a number of them flat out quit. Here are the details from Breitbart:

Twenty-one civil service employees have resigned from billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, saying they’re refusing to use their technical expertise to “dismantle critical public services.”

We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations,” the 21 staffers wrote in a joint resignation letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press. “However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments.”

Like you ever were? This department was created by Der Fubar, Barack Obamaa back in 2014 for the purposes of fixing the disaster that was Obamacare and it’s technological back end. According to the Associated (with terrorists) Press:

The Digital Service was created by President Barack Obama in 2014 to modernize the government’s approach to technology. Its chief original mission was to fix the many glitches and digital problems that plagued the rollout of HealthCare.gov, the site associated with Obama’s signature health care law, which Trump has spent most of his political career bashing.

It hasn’t been just President Trump who has been trashing Obamacare. Anyone who has any knowledge of it has also trashed it and deservedly so. Like anything the Communists Democrats create, it did exactly the opposite of what they claimed it would do.

The employees also warned that many of those enlisted by Musk to help him slash the size of the federal government under President Donald Trump’s administration were political ideologues who did not have the necessary skills or experience for the task ahead of them.

Actually, they do. The people who don’t have the “necessary skills or experience” and are political ideologues are the clowns who just did America a favor and quit.

The mass resignation of engineers, data scientists and product managers is a temporary setback for Musk and the Republican president’s tech-driven purge of the federal workforce. It comes amid a flurry of court challenges that have sought to stall, stop or unwind their efforts to fire or coerce thousands of government workers out of jobs.

That setback may not actually be a setback. Frankly, this office under its previous name hasn’t done much of anything. The Information Technology of the United States government is a disaster. Hardly a week goes by that we don’t hear about some hack of a government office or database. I have a suspicion that Musk is discussing the current status of the government’s IT infrastructure with President Trump and J.D. Vance.

In a statement, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was dismissive of the mass resignation.

Anyone who thinks protests, lawsuits, and lawfare will deter President Trump must have been sleeping under a rock for the past several years,” Leavitt said. “President Trump will not be deterred from delivering on the promises he made to make our federal government more efficient and more accountable to the hardworking American taxpayers.”

It’s so nice to have a competent Press Secretary who can string two sentences together and not lie through her teeth while doing it.

All had previously held senior roles at such tech companies as Google and Amazon and wrote in their resignation letter that they joined the government out of a sense of duty to public service.

Considering how Google has been caught repeatedly moving to suppress the 1st Amendment rights of people in general and Conservatives in particular, I think that a full review of what these people have been doing for the last few years may be needed.

Trump’s empowerment of Musk upended that. The day after Trump’s inauguration, the staffers wrote, they were called into a series of interviews that foreshadowed the secretive and disruptive work of Musk’s’ Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.

Secretive? President Trump and Elon Musk have been pretty open about what they were going to and then proceeding to do it. On the part about being disruptive? Oh Hell yes! That was why President Trump was reelected and why Elon Musk and his team were brought on board. What part of the previous election did you not understand?

According to the staffers, people wearing White House visitors’ badges, some of whom would not give their names, grilled the nonpartisan employees about their qualifications and politics. Some made statements that indicated they had a limited technical understanding. Many were young and seemed guided by ideology and fandom of Musk — not improving government technology.

Their job wasn’t to improve technology. Their job is to rip the living guts out of the Deep State and the bureaucracy. The upgrades to the tech is something that another group will do.

Earlier this month, about 40 staffers in the office were laid off. The firings dealt a devastating blow to the government’s ability to administer and safeguard its own technological footprint, they wrote.

These highly skilled civil servants were working to modernize Social Security, veterans’ services, tax filing, health care, disaster relief, student aid, and other critical services,” the resignation letter states. “Their removal endangers millions of Americans who rely on these services every day. The sudden loss of their technology expertise makes critical systems and American’s data less safe.”

I suspect these clowns were on the RIF lists as well. They also have the usual “I’m to important” attitude of most bureaucrats. As for all those systems? They all have one thing in common. They’ve been hacked almost as badly as Felonia von Pantsuit’s bathroom mail server. It’s obvious that they never had any project plan to overhaul the tech infrastructure of the United States government.

We will not use our skills as technologists to compromise core government systems, jeopardize Americans’ sensitive data, or dismantle critical public services,” they wrote. “We will not lend our expertise to carry out or legitimize DOGE’s actions.”

And the response from most Americans?

Still, Musk has tried to keep technical talent in place, with the bulk of the layoffs in the Digital Service office focused on people in roles like designers, product managers, human resources and contracting staff, according to interviews with current and former staff.

Basically, people who don’t actually do anything. The people who actually do stuff are the ones you want to keep around.

Of the 40 people let go earlier this month, only one was an engineer — an outspoken and politically active staffer name Jonathan Kamens, who said in an interview with the AP that he believes he was fired for publicly endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, on his personal blog and being critical of Musk in chats with colleagues.

I believe that Elon Musk is up to no good. And I believe that any data that he gains access to is going to be used for purposes that are inappropriate and harmful to Americans,” Kamens said.

Barking Moonbat

One of the things we know about the average bureaucrat is that they almost all support the Democrat Party. When a Republican administration comes in, they will basically ignore anything they want and continue to push the Progressive Liberal Deep State policies.

When they have a Democrat like Joe Biden in office? They are in 7th heaven and proceed to push their Socialist totalitarian views and desires on the rest of the nation, regardless of what the rest of the nation actually wants. They did this under Trump 45 and they had planned to do it again under Trump 47. Surprise! President Trump was ready for their antics on hour one of his administration.

Now, this story on Breitbart was actually an Associated with terrorists Press story. This isn’t uncommon. Breitbart bought access but apparently didn’t do any real editing. That is why this story seems more sympathetic the bureaucrats and Big Government and anti-DOGE and anti-Musk. (And AP wonders why they have been booted from the White House press room?) Now the fun part of this is these losers are probably going to find out that thanks to the previous administration, the IT job market isn’t all that great these days, and since they resigned, they don’t get unemployment.

Now that the obligatory sour grapes have been squashed in the legacy media, we can get back to your regularly scheduled destruction of the Deep State bureaucratic swamp.

***UPDATE***

One of the things that Elon Musk and DOGE discovered was how the Federal Retirement system handled all new retirement requests by paper…in a mine…230 feet underground. When people heard about this the basic response was WTF?

Well a news story came out that the Office of Personnel Management, (OPM) has finally digitized the retirement application process and instead of taking months to do, it’s done in a day or so. I have to wonder just what those people in the original Digital Services department were actually doing? It certainly wasn’t digitizing the retirement process.
