Hungary pulling out of the International Criminal Court

Good day all. I’ve written about the International Criminal Court in the past and their view that they are the law on Planet Earth. A number of countries, including the United States, refused to sign on to the agreement that would give the ICC authority over them. (Israel was another)

One of the problems with the ICC, and there are many, is their threats to go after people for alleged crimes, (Human rights and war crimes), that didn’t actually happen. They have threatened the United States in the past and that led to the passage of the American Service-Members’ Protection Act, more commonly known as the “Invade the Hague” Act. The implication being, (Actually nothing was implied, it was a flat out threat), that if the ICC grabbed Americans, primarily servicemen and women in transit to put them on trial, the United States would do whatever it took to free them, up to and including sending in the Marines.

Their latest idiocy was to issue an arrest warrant for Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. This was in regards to Israel pounding the ever living snot out of Hamas after the October 7th terrorist attack initiated by Hamas. The warrant instructs all member nations of the court to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu if he should enter their territory.

Recently, Prime Minister Netanyahu did just that. He visited Hungary, which is a signatory of the Rome Statute. However, the current Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, refused to honor the warrant. Now Hungary is beginning the process to withdraw from the ICC. Here are the details from Newsmax:

Hungary will start the process to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, an official said Thursday, just as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived to red carpet treatment in the country’s capital despite an arrest warrant from the world’s only permanent global tribunal for war crimes and genocide.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán gave the Israeli leader a welcome with full military honors in Budapest’s Castle District. The two close allies stood side by side as a military band played and an elaborate procession of soldiers on horseback and carrying swords and bayoneted rifles marched by.

Basically, Prime Minister Orban flipped the Hague and the EU the stereotypical bird.

As the ceremony unfolded, Orbán’s chief of staff, Gergely Gulyás, released a brief statement saying that “the government will initiate the withdrawal procedure” for leaving the court, which could take a year or more to complete.

I’m not surprised by this. While I don’t follow things in Hungary all that much, Prime Minister Orban and Hungary have been really pissing off the European Union. From the little I know, and it’s very little, Prime Minister Orban, much like President Trump, is putting Hungary first and not following the diktats of the EU and has been ignoring them. (I can’t find a lot of detail on this so feel free to comment below)

Netanyahu’s visit to Hungary, which is scheduled to last until Sunday, was only his second foreign trip since the ICC issued the warrant against him in November.

This isn’t surprising. The Eurotrash countries have announced that they would arrest Netanyahu on sight, starting with Germany.

The ICC, based in The Hague, Netherlands, said when issuing its warrant that there was reason to believe Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had committed crimes against humanity in connection with the war in Gaza.

That reason? Hamas said so. Never mind the actual crimes committed by Hamas. Israel decided that enough was enough and they weren’t going to play the “Tit for Tat” game any longer. They went into Gaza with the intent of annihilating Hamas and destroying their infrastructure. Hamas launched a pretty bad propaganda assault against Israel, claiming that Israel was bombing schools and hospitals and causing tens of thousands of casualties.

Israel’s offensive has killed more than 50,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which doesn’t say whether those killed are civilians or combatants. Israel says it has killed around 20,000 militants, without providing evidence. Israeli military’s response resumed last month, shattering a ceasefire.

The Gaza Health Ministry’s claims are taken as gospel by the Progressive Liberal idiots. The problem is that the GHM has been caught consistently lying about everything, including an “Attack on a hospital” that turned out to be a malfunctioning Hamas rocket that landed in a parking lot. No one was hurt and the damage was a few windows and some cars being wrecked.

After the ICC issued the warrant, Orbán invited Netanyahu to Budapest, and accused the court of “interfering in an ongoing conflict for political purposes.” That invitation was in open defiance of the court’s ruling and contradicted Hungary’s obligations as a signatory to arrest any suspects facing a warrant if they set foot on their soil.

At a news conference following their meeting, Orbán said that he believes the ICC is “no longer an impartial court, not a court of law, but a political court. And this was most clearly shown by the decisions regarding Israel.”

I am convinced that this otherwise important international judicial forum has been degraded into a political tool, with which we cannot and do not want to engage,” Orbán said.

The Hungarian leader, regarded by critics as the EU’s most intransigent spoiler in the bloc’s decision-making, is seen as using some of the tactics that Netanyahu has been accused of employing in Israel: subjugation of the judiciary, antagonism toward the EU and cracking down on civil society and human rights groups.

The European Union should talk. They have moved to full on tyranny. If you say anything that the ruling elite doesn’t like, they will throw you in prison. If you are a woman and are attacked by Muslims, don’t even think about defending yourself. They will throw you in prison. They’re policy is just lie back and try to enjoy the gang rape. As to what is actually going on in Hungary? I don’t have a clue.

The ICC has criticized Hungary’s decision to defy its warrant for Netanyahu. The court’s spokesperson, Fadi El Abdallah, earlier said that it’s not for parties to the ICC “to unilaterally determine the soundness of the Court’s legal decisions.” On Thursday, he said that the court “recalls that Hungary remains under a duty to cooperate with the ICC.”

Actually, it should be for the various countries to decide if a warrant is justified. The ICC should never have been brought into existence and is an actual threat to presidents and prime ministers who’s only crime is defending their nations. I don’t think that they have thought through what would happen if they did manage to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Yes, he is having some political problems at home, but he did screw up badly regarding October 7th. However, that is something for the Israeli people to decide. If they were to grab Prime Minister Netanyahu and put him on trial, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Israel decided to demonstrate to them just how bad an idea this would be.

Hopefully, more ICC members will join with Hungary and put this judicial abortion on the ash heap of history.
