Good day all. About a month ago there were several arrests revolving around ICE rounding up illegal aliens. Two judges have been charged with violating 8 U.S. Code § 1327. Then we have Rep. LaMonica McIver and her activities.
I wrote about her antics a month ago at an ICE facility. She, the mayor of Newark and a couple of other Reps decided to “Inspect” the facility. The mayor was refused entry along with the entire entourage they brought with them. At this point, they tried to force their way through the police line, (Federal Agents in fact), and McIver basically tried to do an organic version of the Killdozer. In her case, it was more like flabdozer.
She ended up being charged with assaulting a federal officer and was booked then released. (I don’t recall if she had to make bail or not) What I wasn’t aware of was that she had not been indicted. Now she has and she is looking at up to 17 years in a federal slammer. Here are the details from Fox News:
Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) was hit with a federal indictment for allegedly obstructing Homeland Security agents during the May 9 incident outside a Newark immigration detention facility in a move her attorneys call political payback.
I suspect her attorneys are desperate and are throwing anything they can against the wall in the hopes something will stick.
U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced the three-count indictment, charging McIver with forcibly impeding federal officers during the attempted arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka at the Delaney Hall immigration facility.
OK then, this is a different charge then the one I was aware of. That one was assaulting a federal officer or three.
According to a DOJ press release, McIver and two other members of Congress were conducting a congressional oversight visit that coincided with an immigration protest. After Baraka entered the facility’s secured area, federal agents warned him to leave.
I recall that one. That moron had ideas of ordering the facility closed down for some nonsense regarding some sort of city habitation laws or something. He literally had no right or permission to be on Federal property and was asked, repeatedly to leave. Then he was told to leave or else. Then came the “Or else” part and he was arrested.
When officers tried to arrest him, McIver allegedly blocked them, putting her arms around the mayor, and “slammed her forearm” into one officer while grabbing another.

The first two crimes are punishable upon conviction of up to eight years in prison. The third one is good for a year in the slammer. My hope is that McIver is convicted on all counts and given consecutive terms.
McIver’s attorney, Paul Fishman, dismissed the case as political in a statement given to Fox News:
“This prosecution is political retaliation against a dedicated public servant… We fully expect the Congresswoman’s exoneration.”
Yeah, good luck with that. You have a small problem with all the bodycams and other video surveillance and security cameras that caught your flabby gutter trash client in full body slam mode. It wasn’t as if she were pushed into one of the agents. That has happened in the past at protests and the bodycams can show that the contact was inadvertent. In this case, there is no apparent doubt.
McIver’s best hope is that Ms. Habba and the DoJ might be interested in a plea deal. Personally, I don’t think they are, but I think it’s safe to say that any deal will require some prison time and her resignation from office. If she is convicted and doesn’t resign, the House will move to expel her. It will be interesting to see if the Democrats move to protect her. They are that stupid after all and, as we’ve been seeing for the last few years, haven’t learned the lesson of holes.
