SHOCK! The Washington ComPost agrees with Trump!

Good day all. Like many others, I have been ragging on the Washington Post, aka the Washington Compost for a long time. Recently, Jeff Bezos, apparently tired of burning cash by the ton, decided it was time to make some changes.

I’ve covered the trials and tribulations of the Leftards at the Compost who have either left in a huff, been invited to seek other opportunities elsewhere or been bought out. One of the major targets of Bezos was the Compost editorial department. He announced a while back that he was going to revamp the editorials to be more even handed and supporting the free markets and America.

Well, it looks like Hell has frozen over. The Washington Compost has published an editorial that agrees with President Trump on Judicial overreach. Here is the editorial, (And my comments), from the Washington Post:

This White House has aggressively tried to withhold federal money from programs it dislikes. Those efforts have rightly faced scrutiny in the courts because the Constitution gives Congress the power of the purse.

Ok, so far so good. This is a factual point. Congress appropriate funds. Now there is some debate on forcing the President to spend those funds, but that’s something for another day.

A case out of Massachusetts is different. There, a federal judge has blocked an act of Congress — not an executive order but legislation — steering Medicaid funds away from abortion providers. Allocating public money is Congress’s core competency. Yet U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani not only countermanded Congress’s spending choice in a preliminary injunction, she also refused to stay her ruling pending appeal. This is the kind of lower court activism that gives the Trump administration fodder for its attacks on judges.

This was a case brought by Planned Parenthood that had it’s taxpayer funding cut off in the bill passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump. As is the usual case with Progressive organizations, they went judge shopping and found an Obama judge. She issued a Temporary Restraining Order that basically forces Congress to fund Planned Parenthood. She came up with the most asinine reason possible, calling the law a “Bill of attainder.”

I had thought I had written something on this when it came out, however, it seems that I didn’t. This is yet another judge who has decided that she is running the country, not the elected officials, such as the members of the House of Representatives, The United States Senate or the President of the United States. Without question this is yet another judge who will get slapped down. This time, there may even be a decision to remove her from the Bench. As to how stupid this Judge is?

Incredibly, Talwani agreed with Planned Parenthood that the provision is an unconstitutional “bill of attainder.” A classic bill of attainder declares a specific person guilty of a crime without trial, but the judge notes that the concept includes other forms of “legislative punishment.”

The judge strained to label Congress’s exercise of its spending discretion unconstitutional.

Strained? That is a nice way of saying that she flat out tore up the Constitution of the United States and decided that she is in charge.

Talwani’s opinion sweeps as broadly as possible, mandating continued funding for all Planned Parenthood members as if the reconciliation bill hadn’t passed.

As you can see, this is not the usual fare we have come to expect from the Washington ComPost’s editorial pages. Normally, they would be cheering on this corrupt tyrannical judge. Instead, you have and editorial that actually seems to be balanced and factual. Of course, it wouldn’t the Washington ComPost without at least a modicum of stupidity.

There is no “judicial coup” against President Donald Trump, as some of his supporters deliriously claim.

Yeah, actually, there is. Almost all of these sorts of decisions in the last few months have been made by either Obama or Biden judges and have been overturned by either the appeals courts or SCOTUS, usually with a pretty had slam on the original judge. The DoJ is now starting to go after these judges who have been consistently issuing rulings that are blatantly unconstitutional, with the first target being Judge James Boasberg. In his case, it’s looking like he is prejudging cases and will always rule against the Trump Administration.

Many of the Trump administration’s unilateral spending clawbacks are suspect.

That is debatable, especially in light of the massive amounts of fraud that have been identified to date.

But here, the GOP has targeted spending to which it objects in the constitutionally appropriate way: passing a law through Congress, despite narrow majorities.

Uh Oh!! the Washington ComPost is back to sounding reasonable again!

Regardless of what one might think of the policy, that political decision deserves more judicial deference than an executive order.

You almost have it there. The judge didn’t just overstep her authority, she flat out initiated a judicial power grab in flagrant disregard for the Constitution and the Separation of Powers. She is quite literally, ordering Congress to appropriate taxpayer funds for a private organization. In my unschooled opinion, that is unquestionably an impeachable offense.

Now for this editorial, as you can see, it looks like Jeff Bezos and the new publisher, Bill Lewis, are putting their new plans to overhaul the newspaper into effect. The editorial page is probably the easiest place to start with. I also expect that a lot of ComPost WOKE, Leftard “Journalists” are probably grinding their teeth over this. With any luck more of those losers will quit and be replaced by actual, competent reporters. We shall see what things look like during the election season next year.
