Is Harvard about to surrender to common sense? (And President Trump)

Good day all. Since President Trump returned to office, he has been pushing colleges and universities to end their racist and discriminatory practices referred to as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The Ivy League has been target number one in this endeavor with Harvard University, aka the Kremlin on the Charles, being at the top of the list.

Harvard has a long history of racist and antisemitism going back decades. Of late, they have become pretty blatant about it, thinking that no one would dare do anything about it. Then came President Donald J. Trump. He has thrown everything at Harvard including the kitchen sink to get them to stop acting in a racist and antisemitic manner.

Harvard has refused. Finally President Trump decided to nuke them from orbit and began canceling any and all government payments to Harvard. Now most people thought that Harvard could ride this out, considering they’re sitting on a $50 billion dollar endowment. Apparently not. Now Harvard may be considering running up the white flag. Here are the details from the Daily Caller:

Harvard University is reportedly considering spending up to $500 million to settle its ongoing dispute with the Trump administration, according to The New York Times.

After previously vowing not to comply with the administration, Harvard is now open to a deal, the Times reported on Monday, citing four people familiar with the negotiations. The Trump administration has been targeting the Ivy League University since April, when it declared the school violated civil rights law in its lack of response to campus antisemitism.

Now if the Daily Caller is referencing a New York Slimes article then Harvard must be serious. The Slimes is about as hard left as you can get and has been ripped to shreds over their reporting, or lack there of, regarding a lot of the actions taken by the Hamas supporters at Harvard.

Harvard is reluctant to pay the federal government directly, and negotiations are ongoing, according to the Times. The potential deal also may include a settlement in the current court dispute between Harvard and the administration over the funding cuts.

Now I can’t comment on the inner workings of a settlement. I am not qualified to comment on that. It would seem to me that if Harvard agrees to end their fight and cough up the Benjamins, I would assume that would include all the other plaintiffs and an admission of wrong doing on the part of Harvard, and a plan to correct the issues.

A spokesman for the White House did not confirm to the Daily Caller News Foundation whether a deal was on the horizon, but said they are confident one is possible.

I’m not surprised. This is ongoing and no one wants to screw things up if there are settlement discussions underway.

The Trump Administration’s proposition is simple and commonsense: Don’t allow antisemitism and DEI to run your campus, don’t break the law, and protect the civil liberties of all students,” Harrison Fields, principal deputy press secretary for the White House, said in a statement to the DCNF. “We are confident that Harvard will eventually come around and support the President’s vision, and through good-faith conversations and negotiations, a good deal is more than possible.”

I’m not. Harvard has been fighting this tooth and nail and I won’t be at all surprised if they walk away, or just flat out misrepresent what they are going to do as part of the agreement.

Part of Harvard’s reasoning for declining the Trump administration’s resolution in April was its insistence on maintaining academic freedom and freedom of speech, which it is hesitant to relinquish, especially in light of Columbia’s deal, which forced it to adopt an outside monitor to oversee the university and ensure its compliance with the agreement. Columbia also adopted a new definition of antisemitism, which prohibits criticism of Jews and Israel.

We aren’t talking about freedom of speech here. The Pro-Hamas protests also resulted in flat out threats against Jewish students with a few actual attacks. Then there is Harvard’s long history of racism. In the past, it was against anyone who wasn’t white. Of late, it’s anyone who is white, or at least a white conservative heterosexual male. Columbia has the same problem. They couldn’t be trusted to uphold their part of the agreement. As to Columbia’s new “Definition” of antisemitism? Again, I can’t comment since I don’t know what it actually is.

A September 2024 congressional investigation found “Harvard failed” to enforce meaningful punishment on nearly 70 students who were involved in a multi-day pro-Hamas encampment during the previous spring semester. Demonstrators at the Ivy League institution also disrupted classes and occupied a campus building.

If I recall correctly, a fair number of those “Demonstrators” weren’t even students at Harvard. They were paid professional protesters.

A more recent internal investigation revealed that more than a quarter of Jewish students felt “physically unsafe” on campus and “Almost 60% of Jewish students reported experiencing ‘discrimination, stereotyping, or negative bias.’”

One of the biggest shocks for Jewish students was how fast the Progressives turned on them after the October 7th terrorist attack into Israel. They had thought that since they were also nice Progressive Liberal Democrats, they would have no problems. The Leftards quickly and violently disabused them of that notion. The Biden/Garland DoJ did their usual nothing since they hate Israel and wanted it destroyed so had no problem with a “Pogrom” against Jewish students at places like Harvard.

I think these people are finally coming to terms with the fact that the Democrat Party and the Progressive Left not only doesn’t support Israel and Jews, they are actively attacking them. It’s the Center/Right that has been supporting Israel and has been coming to the defense of Israel and Jews in this country, hence President Trump’s all out assault on the antisemitism and DEI racism of the Ivy League schools.

Harvard has already shown signs of complying with federal directives, recently shuttering its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) offices and ending its affinity graduation celebrations, though some reports suggest Harvard may simply be reshuffling DEI staff into new offices.

I suspect that is what they are either doing or planning to do. We’ve already seen other colleges and universities claim that they were closing down their DEI offices, then some Leftard Blowhard posts on Socialist Media that they just renamed things and were going to continue discriminating. That was probably the reason Columbia was forced to accept an outside monitor.

Harvard and the other colleges and universities around the country are experiencing a number of problems. Many colleges have had to close their doors due to falling enrollments. Even Harvard is seeing this happen to them. People are coming to the conclusion that these overpriced diploma mills aren’t worth the hundreds of thousands in debt that graduate take on.

Add to that issue are the reports that Harvard has been sucking up to the Chinese Communist leadership for decades. This is now being seen for what it is. A gaping security hole. Harvard has been around for 300 years. There is now a major question if it will make it another 30 years if they don’t change. We shall see what happens next.
