Good day all, Recently, Cracker Barrel’s Woke management decided that it was time to see if they could out do Bud Light and Jaguar when it comes to corporate suicide. They announced a number of changes to the restaurants that none of their customers wanted or asked for. One of them was getting rid of their original logo for a yellow blob.

When the new logo was presented, it was roundly and soundly trashed. In fact, the announcement triggered a huge number of memes, mostly variations of the old logo, but a few with the new pile of drek. Add to this, all the announced changes that seemed to be all about ESG, DEI and generally Woke crap. The rage was palpable and it hit the one thing these Woke managers actually notice. The stock price. Even President Trump got into the denigration of Cracker Barrel.

Finally the dam broke and Cracker Barrel caved in, a little. They have announced that upon refelction, they will not be changing the logo. Here are the details from Fox Business News:
Cracker Barrel said Tuesday that after listening to its customers, it will scrap its new logo and keep the “Old Timer” in place.

“We thank your guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel,” the restaurant chain said in a statement to FOX Business. “We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain. At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family.”
“As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon,” the restaurant chain added.
Keep looking forward, I have no plans on going. From what I’ve been reading, the food quality has cratered over the last few years. There is also the other issues that people have brought up such as basically trashing the traditional décor and going with a hospital cafeteria motif.
Cracker Barrel found itself at odds with its fans after removing “Uncle Herschel” from its logo. The company unveiled its revamped text-only design, sparking backlash and sinking its stock price.
It wasn’t the outcry from the customers that caused the cancellation of the new logo, it was the collapsing stock price. The institutional investors, who were all in on trashing the brand, had to step in apparently and do something to stabilize the stock prices.
The chain also redesigned the interior of its restaurants, ditching the kitschy American aesthetic and replacing it with a slick modernist motif.
That’s going to be the next target of ire in my opinion. No one has a problem with updating the interiors, but from what I’ve read, they are throwing everything out and putting in the same sort of drek you can see in many other chain restaurants.
Cracker Barrel has stood by its recent moves and said 87% of respondents in their “Our values haven’t changed, and the heart and soul of Cracker Barrel haven’t changed,” a spokesperson previously told Fox News Digital research either loved or liked the new logo.
Obviously, they weren’t asking people who probably go to Cracker Barrel a lot. I suspect they didn’t ask anyone outside of a very close circle, say about 10 people who have never been to a Cracker Barrel. I have no doubt that the CEO and Board of Directors were caught flat footed by the response to all the changes they are shoving down their customers throats. Whoever dreamed up all these changes should be sent packing. Now we shall see if they’ve managed to save themselves from being Bud Lighted or not.
***Update***
Just after I finished this up, the Fat Electrician released a Fat Files video on this whole Cracker Barrel fiasco. This isn’t something he usually does, since it’s a breaking story. However, he as come up with an interesting theory that this was actually all cooked up by Cracker Barrel to generate free publicity.
