Good day all. The raids rounding up illegal aliens continues to ramp up and now ICE and other Federal Law Enforcement organizations are raiding large businesses. Recently, a raid was conducted on a Hyundai plant that is under construction and 475 illegal aliens were arrested.

This was a major raid and the ramifications are international. The illegals were literally taking jobs that were meant for Americans and Legal Resident Aliens. Here are some of the details from Fox News:
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) announced the arrest of 475 illegal migrants during a major immigration enforcement raid on Thursday at a Hyundai electric car battery factory in Georgia.

Fox News needs to correct this opening paragraph. These weren’t “Illegal migrants,” they were illegal aliens. That is the legal term in the statutes. A migrant is a person who has lawfully immigrated to the United States.
HSI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Steven Schrank noted that while the raid was at a Hyundai facility, not all the migrants worked for the parent company. Some worked for subcontractors at the site.
“We are sending a clear and unequivocal message that those who exploit our workforce, undermine our economy and violate federal laws will be held accountable,” Schrank said during a news conference on Friday.
One of the games a lot of companies use is subcontractors. This is so they can pay practically nothing for the work they want done and if there is a raid, it’s not the company that will get slammed, it’s the subcontractor. I have a feeling that this little game is going to be coming to an end and soon.
The raid was the largest single site operation HSI has carried out and follows major raids at other workplaces over the last few months under the Trump administration.
The facility, a $4.3 billion to $7.6 billion Hyundai–LGES joint venture, is slated to supply batteries to Hyundai’s nearby Savannah EV plant and stands as the largest single industrial investment in Georgia’s history.
This was touted by the Biden Maladministration with Dementia Joe crowing about all the jobs that will be available. According to another Fox News story:
“It’s great to be here to announce the more than $10 billion in new investment in American manufacturing. This new commitment of $5 billion for advanced automotive technology and $5.5 billion investment to open a new factory near Savannah, Georgia, is going to create more than 8,000 new American jobs,” Biden said while visiting South Korea in May 2022.
“Our administration is setting ambitious standards to cut pollution in cars and trucks and boost — boost — fuel economy standards for those continuing to operate on gasoline,” he later added.

Even the RINO governor was touting this as recently as February.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, touted the project last February in an X post praising the “momentum” of the project. The effort is a partnership between Hyundai and LG Energy Solution to bolster EV development in the U.S.
I wonder what he’s saying now that a fair number of the jobs that should have gone to Americans, primarily residents of Georgia, went to illegal aliens instead?

Returning to the original Fox News story, the South Korean government isn’t happy with the raid.
The South Korean foreign ministry expressed “concern and regret” over the raid and sent a counselor and embassy officials to the location.
“Our companies’ economic activities and our people’s rights should not be infringed unfairly in the US legal enforcement process,” Lee Jae-woong, a spokesperson for South Korea’s foreign ministry, said on Friday, according to the Financial Times.

I gather that most, if not all of the illegal aliens that were picked up were from South Korea. This is rather concerning since I don’t know of any issues with Koreans getting legal visas to come to the United States. There is a large Korean population in the United States and are generally welcomed, especially when there is a need for them on rooftops.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and gathering all relevant details,” LGES told Fox News Digital in a statement. “Our top priority is always ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and partners. We will fully cooperate with the relevant authorities.”
Like you have a choice.
Hyundai also said it is aware of the raid and believes that none of its workers were detained.
“As of today, it is our understanding that none of those detained is directly employed by Hyundai Motor Company,” Hyundai told Fox News Digital in a statement. “We prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone working at the site and comply with all laws and regulations wherever we operate.”
Apparently not it seems. While I agree that the company is following the laws regarding safety, (The last thing they need is a serious accident that brings in either state or federal investigations for now obvious reasons), they also seem to be playing fast and loose with our immigration laws.
Video posted to social media Thursday showed workers in yellow safety vests lined up as a man – wearing a face mask and a tactical vest with the letters HSI – tells them: “We’re Homeland Security. We have a search warrant for the whole site.”
“We need construction to cease immediately,” the man says. “We need all work to end on the site right now.”
Now that is very interesting. If they went to a judge for a formal search warrant, then they are probably looking for a lot more than illegal aliens. They might be going through the Human Resources files as well and may be looking for additional law enforcement activities. Obviously, it’s early days yet, but it might be interesting to see what shakes out. If it turns out that Hyundai aided in getting these illegals into the country, it won’t end well for them as a corporation. We shall see what comes next.
