Good day all. Hot on the heels of the indictment of John “The ‘Stache” Bolton, another little tidbit has been released that will warm the hearts of decent people everywhere. The former Special Counsel, Jack Smith, has been referred to the Department of Justice.

Now it doesn’t look like the investigation will lead to actual criminal charges. What they may lead to is his being disbarred. Here are the details from the New York Post:
Former special counsel Jack Smith was referred to the Department of Justice office that deals with professional misconduct — as well as for disbarment by two state panels — following “deeply disturbing revelations” that he surreptitiously obtained congressional Republicans’ call logs.
Congress has gone absolutely apeshit over the news that Smith was monitoring their calls. They are already working to drag him in front of an oversight committee and give him a deep, long anal probe…with a baseball bat…with spikes embedded in it…wrapped in razorwire.
A Friday letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi led by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) accused former President Joe Biden’s DOJ of having “spied on duly elected members of Congress” and demanding that Smith be investigated by the department’s Office of Professional Responsibility.
“As part of Jack Smith’s weaponized witch hunt, the Biden DOJ issued subpoenas to several telecommunications companies in 2023 regarding our cell phone records, gaining access to the time, recipient, duration, and location of calls placed on our devices from January 4, 2021, to January 7, 2021,” Blackburn and the other lawmakers said.
“We have yet to learn of any legal predicate for the Biden Department of Justice issuing subpoenas to obtain these cell phone records,” added the GOP lawmakers, including Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) as well as Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.).

Does this really surprise you or anyone else? Smith has a long history of abusing his authority. I recall reading that when he was an actual prosecutor, not the fake one put in place by Merrick Garland, he had a number of convictions overturned on appeal because he blatantly abused his office. Jack Smith’s job was to find, or manufacture anything they could use to jail President Trump as well as any other Republicans that he could get.
The elected officials also accused Smith — whose eventual federal cases against President Trump received materials from the FBI’s “Arctic Frost” probe — of having infringed on the constitutional rights of elected officials and “trampled on this separation of powers principle that underlies our system of government.”
“This is especially true given the invasion of our privacy was directly connected to our core legislative functions protected by the Speech or Debate Clause of our Constitution,” the Republicans went on. “To the best we can tell, Smith’s team went on this fishing expedition for one simple reason: we are Republicans who support President Trump.”
The Biden maladministration, the Obama minions who were handling Dementia Joe and the Democrats in general don’t care on wit about the separation of powers, unless the Republicans are in control. Then they are all for it to the point they have their pet judges usurp authority they don’t have.
In concluding the missive, the federally scrutinized senators suggested that Smith be referred for disbarment to the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility and the New York Attorney Grievance Committee, since he is licensed to practice law in both states.
Tennessee might actually review everything and could, if the facts warranted it, disbar Smith. The New York Grievance Committee? Really?
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee and released the information on the phone records’ seizure earlier this month, claimed the investigative move was “arguably worse than Watergate.”
“What I’ve uncovered today is disturbing and outrageous political conduct by the Biden FBI,” he said. “The FBI’s actions were an unconstitutional breach, and Attorney General Bondi and [FBI] Director [Kash] Patel need to hold accountable those involved in this serious wrongdoing.”
Well, they are working on it. While Bondi is not what we’re all hoping for, she does, once in a while, rise to the occasion. Director Kash Patel? Oh he’s all in on going after Smith, Garland and all the others. The major difference between Smith, Garland and Wray is that Patel and Bondi won’t just make things up, lie on warrant applications and manufacture evidence. They will go through everything with a fine tooth comb and only if the evidence warrants, will the Bondi DoJ go to the Grand Jury.
The Iowa Republican has also released files showing 92 GOP-connected groups or people — including the late Turning Point USA founder and conservative icon Charlie Kirk — were targeted in the FBI’s Arctic Frost probe.
In addition, records disclosed by Patel’s FBI show Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) was tailed by agents at his congressional office in Washington, DC, and his district residence — and later had his phone seized as part of the probe.
I recall that incident. It was a scandal all by itself and showed just how much contempt for the Constitution and the Rule of Law that the Garland DoJ had. Now the case has been handed over to the DoJ’s Office of Professional Responsibility. I honestly don’t know what they can do outside of civil actions. Of course, there is the entire question of Smith’s appointment and whether or not it was actually valid.
He wasn’t confirmed by the Senate for the role and one of the cases against President Trump was dismissed because of this. I would like to think that both he and Merrick Garland could be hit with criminal charges involving the violations of President Trump and the others for violating the Constitutional and Civil rights of the parties involved. I know that Director Patel has said that there are others in the gunsights of the DoJ. We shall see what happens next. I don’t expect much until next year in anycase.
