Good day all. A few weeks ago, the Trump administration began construction of a ballroom on the East Wing of the White House. The new ballroom, once it’s completed, the White House will be able to hold state dinners for up to 600 people. This was something that everyone has known was needed.

The problem with the construction project is who is initiating it. President Trump announced the plans last winter, and after raising the funds to pay for the construction, began by demolishing the old office spaces that were used, as I understand it, by the First Lady. Now the idiots on the Left are trying to stop all construction even though the demolition is pretty much completed and there is a pile of rubble waiting to be hauled away. Here are the details from the Federalist:
The White House — the People’s House — can’t fit many people in its walls for special events, so it must pitch a tent about one football field away from the building for major functions. Event capacity is capped at 200 people in the White House’s East Room. It has been a problem for more than 150 years, according to the Trump administration. Now Trump is using around $300 million in private money to make the White House more welcoming, and the left is pretty mad about it.

I’ve been following the Leftards absolute meltdown over the demolition and construction of the new ballroom. The screams have been epic as has the level of utter craziness the left has embraced. If you though the Left was bughouse nuts before, prepare to be amazed at what they’ve sunk to.
Why? From the leftists’ perspective, it’s as bad as terrorists murdering 2,977 people on Sept. 11, 2001.
Of course, the conservatives, along with President Trump and the people in his administration just had to throw napalm on the fire. The trolling levels have been epic with everything from a skyscraper marked “Trump Towers on it, to Cracker Barrel adding their two cents. After their recent disaster trying to rebrand themselves, they provided their own comments.
Cracker Barrel didn’t miss the chance to join in, leaning into its own notorious remodel earlier this year, replying, “You probably don’t want us anywhere near a remodel.”
My personal favorite was a photoshop of the Deathstar under construction off the east wing.

Now the actual facts are simple. Along with the new ballroom, the entire East Wing is being renovated and updated.
The entire East Wing of the White House will be modernized and rebuilt to go along with a new ballroom, spanning 90,000 square feet, with capacity for 650 guests.
Renovating the White House is almost a constant thing. Back in 1948, the White House was in such disrepair that after a piano partially fell through a floor, there was serious discussions about tearing the entire building down and putting up a new White House. In the end, the White House was literally gutted to the bare walls, new steel supports put into place and complete rebuilt. Only the exterior part of the building is original. Now President Trump is putting his mark on the building and, since it’s President Trump, the Left has decided that this project MUST BE STOPPED!!
If the left could find a legal reason for suing President Donald Trump for breathing, they would already be in court, so of course, a couple surfaced Thursday night, Charles K. Voorhees and Judith A. Voorhees, filing a case at the U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia, seeking a temporary restraining order (TRO) and “other equitable relief.”
They want the administration to stop the construction process and get approvals from five oversight entities. According to the Voorheeses, the White House must first do the following:
Provide final plans to the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC); consult with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) to assure the plans are not violating the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA); meet with the D.C. State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) “to mitigate any adverse effects;” and consult with the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), “which reviews and advises on the design and aesthetics of the exterior modifications to the White House and its grounds,” according to the filing.
Here’s the thing. The administration actually doesn’t have to get these approvals. The highest authority is, wait for it, the President of the United States. He’s the one who signs off on all the permits.

“President Trump has full legal authority to modernize, renovate, and beautify the White House – just like all of his predecessors did,” Davis Ingle, a White House spokesman, told The Federalist in an email — still working while the government is shut down.

From what I’ve read elsewhere, President Trump coordinated with the White House Historical Association before beginning construction. The WHHA was founding in 1961 and they are the ones who work to preserve the historical architecture of the White House and to make sure that the new construction matches the basic architecture of the White House. All the other organizations the plaintiffs are demanding that President Trump get permission from? They do not have any authority at all in this matter. According to Grok:
The final approval for any construction, alteration, or improvement on the White House grounds rests with the President of the United States, acting through the White House Chief Usher and the Office of the Curator, in coordination with the National Park Service (NPS) and the U.S. Secret Service (USSS).
So the courts have no jurisdiction in this matter. I checked with Grok again to see if the case had been heard, and nothing has even been scheduled. It’s coming up on two weeks since they filed their suit and construction has been continuing. I see one of three reasons for this.
First, the Schumer Shutdown is delaying civil cases. Second, they are still trying to see if James Boasberg can be the one to hear the case. (Unlikely considering that he may be facing impeachment in the next few weeks) Finally, the judges who have looked at this understand that these two are nuts and don’t have a legal leg to stand on and it isn’t worth the heartburn and inevitable overturning on appeal if they do issue the TRO.

In the meantime, construction continues and the trolling of the Leftards increases. Instead of just saying “Hey! This is great! We’re going to have a formal ballroom worthy of the name after 150 years and it’s not going to cost the taxpayers one dime.” we have idiots like Eric Swalwell issuing a litmus test for the next democrat nominee that he or she will tear down the ballroom. No one on either side of the aisle is taking that stupid idea seriously.
The plan is to have the ballroom completed before President Trump leaves office in 2029. The usual idiots are saying that the timeline is optimistic, however, this isn’t a government run project. It’s been funded and the contractors are private sector. I have no doubt they have financial incentives to finish the job on or ahead of schedule. In any case, it’s probably going to be at least two years. That will be two years of driving the Left even further over the edge.
