Good day all. With everything else that has been going on, along with how fast this was resolved, the story about a Hilton Hotel canceling reservations for ICE agents has slipped off the radar.

This all started on Monday January 5th when a report came out that a Hilton hotel in Minneapolis canceled the reservations of ICE agents. The first reports came from the DHS TwitterX account when let fly with how a reservation was canceled when the hotel found out that it was for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
NO ROOM AT THE INN!@HiltonHotels has launched a coordinated campaign in Minneapolis to REFUSE service to DHS law enforcement.
When officers attempted to book rooms using official government emails and rates, Hilton Hotels maliciously CANCELLED their reservations.

From there, it exploded all over the internet with people calling up Hilton Corporate headquarters and complaining. Hilton initially responded a few hours later that was wishy washy at best. They then followed up by saying the hotel in question is a franchised hotel and not directly owned by Hilton. They also said that the local franchise said they would correct the issue and talk with the manager.
They lied. Instead, the local franchise doubled down on stupid. This led the Hilton Corporation to cut ties with the hotel. Here are some of the details from RedState:
Trouble erupted mid-afternoon on Monday when the Department of Homeland Security posted email communications from a Hampton Inn Lakeville property showing that management or staff had researched the name of at least one law enforcement officer attempting to make a reservation and then canceled the commitment once realizing they were involved with “immigration work.”
“We have noticed an influx of GOV reservations made today that have been for DHS, and we are not allowing any ICE or immigration agents to stay at our property. If you are with DHS or immigration, let us know as we will have to cancel your reservation,” a second email read.

That was when the DHS let loose their blast on TwitterX. As mentioned above. Hilton Corp said this was unacceptable and investigated the hotel. They thought it had been resolved. It wasn’t.
Influencer Nick Sortor, armed with a video recording device, visited the Lakeville Hampton Inn and quickly learned that the owner and front desk manager, at least, weren’t about to change their unwelcoming stance. In the video posted on X, Sortor asks about available rooms and is met with resistance when he says they are for DHS.
“We’re not accepting people from immigration, ICE agents, DHS, onto our property,” the clerk says. “It’s just per management, our ownership.”
Sortor points to Hilton’s statement, but the front desk manager indicates he had just spoken with the owner, who informed him there was no change to the selective policy.
And that was it as far as the Hilton Corporation was concerned. In less then 24 hours, Hilton announced that they were cutting all ties with the hotel and canceling their franchise agreement. Here are those details from Fox Business News:
Hilton Hotels announced on Tuesday that it was ending its relationship with an independently owned Minneapolis-area hotel after a newly released video appeared to confirm that the property was still refusing to accommodate Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The decision came shortly after a video released Tuesday morning by independent journalist Nick Sorter showed him attempting to book a block of rooms at the Hampton Inn by Hilton in Lakeville, Minn., where a front desk staff member confirmed the hotel was still barring DHS and ICE agents.
The staff member’s statements in the secretly recorded video appeared to directly contradict a Monday apology from the hotel’s management company, Everpeak Hospitality, which said the issue had been resolved and that the property did not discriminate.

In short order the hotel’s connections to the Hilton reservation system were cut. Now if you don’t know what this means, that hotel just lost the means to rent hotel rooms. They will need to set up a new system and they can no longer use the Hilton brand name. However, people still weren’t happy since the Hilton name was still connected with that hotel. That issue was resolved on Thursday, January 8th. Here are those details from Fox News:
Photos emerged Thursday showing a crane removing the sign of a Hampton Inn hotel in the Minneapolis area that allegedly refused to accommodate U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and immigration officers. The images showed the sign being lifted off its supports by a crane set up in the hotel’s parking lot.

The formerly Hilton-branded property in Lakeville was stripped of its Hilton label by the hotel chain on Tuesday morning after a video surfaced appearing to show that the location continued to deny immigration officers despite Hilton Hotels saying that the venue had apologized and that “properties are open to everyone, and we do not tolerate any form of discrimination.”
That was basically business suicide by that hotel. When you lie to the corporation that set up your franchise, they are going to drop you faster then a communist drops a book by Thomas Sowell. Add to that the U.S. Government is dropping that hotel from it’s list of approved vendors.
The General Services Administration (GSA) said earlier this week that it is terminating the Hampton Inn Lakeville in Minnesota from its list of approved lodging sites for all federal employees.
“After I was informed that a local Hilton property canceled rooms reserved for ICE, GSA immediately reviewed the matter and found the hotel to be in clear violation of its government lodging program requirements,” GSA Administrator Edward C. Forst told Fox News Digital in a statement. “The property has been removed from the programs and booking tools effective immediately. GSA unequivocally supports our federal law enforcement partners.”
I think the only reason Hilton itself wasn’t removed from the approved vendors list is that they move very quickly to cut loose this hotel. I haven’t seen anything regarding the holding company that owns the hotel, Everpeak Hospitality and if they are going to do anything with that property. I also haven’t heard if that company is also going to be booted the GSA’s list of approved vendors. In any case, it’s nice to see a corporation deal with a serious issue in the correct manner….for a change.
