DoJ Fires New York immigration judge

Good day all. I meant to post this a week ago, but… One of the ways that illegals try to stay in the United States is to claim asylum. Normally, when you think of someone asking for asylum, you see someone who is in danger of political persecution or even death in their home country. You would be mistaken.

Normally, asylum claims are handled by immigration judges. These are not judges in the usual sense of the word. They are employees of the federal government and have not been appointed by the President or confirmed by the senate. This makes I a lot easier to get rid of bad ones, and that appears to be what has just happened. Here are the details from the New York Post:

The Justice Department has axed New York’s most lenient immigration court judge, The Post has learned. Judge Vivienne Gordon-Uruakpa, who ruled in favor of asylum claimants 97% of the time — more than any of her colleagues in the state – was terminated without public notice back in September because of her prolific record of asylum rulings, according to a government official.

That isn’t being a lenient immigration judge. That is a judge who has decided that anyone claiming asylum for any reason deserves it. I did a bit of research using Grok and found that she was first hired under the GW Bush administration in 2002. What is interesting is that her asylum grant rate appears to have jumped to the 92% to 97% rate between 2019 until she was fired late last year.

Her departure appears to be part of a massive culling of the most lenient judges. Trump has fired more than 100 immigration judges during his term as deportation rates grow while the administration has managed to slash illegal entry into the country at the borders.

Well, I call that a good start. What a pity he can’t also fire all the corrupt, power mad federal judges who are also working to keep illegal aliens in the country.

Attorney General Pam Bondi gets to hire and fire immigration court judges — lawyers who don’t enjoy the lifetime tenure perks that many other federal judges do.

Well, I will give kudos to Attorney General Bondi when she does something right. Getting rid of all the immigration judges who can’t seem to comprehend that just because someone claims asylum, they may not actually deserve it.

Gordon-Uruakpa, 66, attended Fordham University in the Bronx and the Howard University School of Law. Her background is in legal aid and criminal defense.

That explains a lot of things. She is a barking moonbat. She probably did most of her rulings using emotion and not logic or facts. Well, she’s gone now. I suspect she won’t have a problem getting a position with Mamdani’s Supreme Soviet administration in New York City.
