Good day all. With the termination of Pam Bondi as Attorney General, the 2nd Amendment community is hoping that the new AG will put an end to the schizophrenic actions by the DoJ. Bondi literally blew hot and cold on some of the 2nd Amendment cases currently being adjudicated in the courts.
One definite bright part was the appointment of Harmeet Dhillon to the Civil Rights division. She has been cleaning out that nest of Leftist trash and redirecting the Civil Rights division back to what it’s supposed to be doing. Protecting all of the rights guaranteed to Americans under the Constitution of the United States, including the 2nd Amendment.
Now President Trump is putting money into undoing the damage done to our 2nd Amendment rights. Here are the details from Breibart:
President Donald J. Trump’s fiscal year 2027 budget proposal seeks to end numerous gun controls implemented by ATF (the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) during Joe Biden’s term in office.
Page 44 of the budget proposal contains the heading, “Protects the Constitutional Rights of American Citizens.”
Immediately after the heading, it says, “The Budget affirms the President’s commitment to definitively protect the Second Amendment and other constitutional rights of citizens.”
It states that protection of Second Amendment rights “includes investing $1.4 million for a new office within the Civil Rights Division solely dedicated to protecting Second Amendment rights from unlawful infringement on the right to bear arms and pursuing cases to definitively enshrine those rights in perpetuity…”
This is a major shift in how the DoJ has been handling the 2nd Amendment, particularly under Democrat administrations and especially under the Biden Autopen maladministration. The goal of all Democrat administrations since FDR has been the complete disarming of the American people. Sadly, far to many Republican administrations have done nothing to correct this and the courts can’t seem to comprehend the plain language of the 2nd Amendment. Now President Trump is doing something about this.
The Biden-era gun controls come into view about halfway through the paragraph, where it says:
The Budget continues to support the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) efforts to reverse regulations imposed by prior administrations that have effectively criminalized law-abiding gun ownership. The previous administration used the ATF to attack gun-owning Americans and undermine the Second Amendment by: requiring near-universal background checks; subjecting otherwise lawful gun owners to up to 10 years in prison for failing to register pistol braces that make it possible for disabled veterans to use firearms; the imposition of excessive restrictions on homemade firearms; and the revocation of Federal Firearms Licenses.
Dementia Joe Biden’s long standing contempt for the 2nd Amendment is well known as his complete and utter ignorance of how firearms work. Some of his advice would get you thrown in jail if you were lucky and probably dead if you weren’t. The advice? First, get a double barrel shotgun.
Now there is nothing wrong with a double barreled shotgun, but as a personal defense weapon, it has it’s issues. First, you have only two shots before you have to reload. Second is it’s length. A standard double barreled shotgun is rather long. They do come with shorter barrels but you still have the two shot limit.
His second piece of advice was, if you had someone trying to break in, was to fire both barrels in the air to scare off the criminal. The problem with that? You are now unarmed. The other problem with that? In general, firing a warning shot is illegal. One reason is you don’t generally know where the projectiles are going to land. You could cause damage, injure or even kill someone.
Another piece of stupid advice from the most corrupt and incompetent president in American history, was, if someone was trying to break in, was to fire both barrels through the door. Again, this is very illegal. That senile idiot was telling people to use lethal force when it may not have been appropriate. I believe a few people did follow this idiots advice and did get into serious trouble.
Recently, the Big Beautiful Bill ended the NFA tax on short barreled rifles, Suppressors and other things. The original intent was to remove these firearms from the NFA altogether, but the GOP ran into problems with the House parliamentarian and that Deep State swamp dweller, John Thune wouldn’t push back.
Ending the tax was seen as a way to get these firearms out of the NFA. By the Supreme Court’s own ruling, the tax stamp required was the only reason that the NFA was considered to be constitutional. Since the tax was ended, these firearms and other items should now be removed from the NFA list.
A number of Republican members of the House and Senate wrote a letter to then AG Pam Bondi explaining that this was the intent. Her response? In the court cases now moving through the system, the DoJ was backing the ATF in keeping these firearms and other items on the list.
With Bondi gone, Harmeet Dhilon rampaging through the courts and a new AG being brought in, things are looking up for the 2nd Amendment. This budget request by President Trump cements his intentions to restore the 2nd Amendment to what it was always intended to be. An absolute right of the people that the Government may NOT infringe.
