Good day all. Once upon a time, John “The Stache” Bolton was considered a great person. However, when he was made the National Security Advisor in President Trump’s first term, he basically threw his reputation away. Part of what happened was his constant pushing to bomb Iran and other countries. He was finally dismissed. That’s when the problems began.

Last year, Bolton was arrested for mishandling classified information in the first Trump Administration. Apparently, the Biden/Garland DoJ had enough evidence to charge him, but since Bolton had turned on on President Trump, they let things pass. Once President Trump regained his office, Bondi and Kash started looking into things, discovered what Garland and company had buried and moved to indict Bolton. Now he is reported to be pleading guilty. Here are the details from Fox News:
Former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton will plead guilty to retaining classified information, two sources confirmed to Fox News on Thursday.

Authorities raided Bolton’s home and office in August of last year, and he was officially indicted in October. That indictment charged Bolton with both transmission and retention of classified information.
As I recall, Bolton actually used his family to get information out of the White House. He was using the information for a book he was writing. When the Trump DoJ found out, they took action.
He is now expected to accept a plea deal with federal authorities to plead guilty to a single count of retention of classified information. Under the deal, he would be fined $2.25 million and could avoid serving any prison time. He faces a maximum of 5 years in prison, and ultimately, the sentence will be imposed by the judge. There is a hearing scheduled for June 26.
I doubt that Bolton will actually do time. This is obviously a plea deal and you now his lawyers were going to do everything they could to keep him out of prison. There is also his age to consider. He’s 77 years old and doing 5 years could be a life sentence. He might do a few months as a token sentence in a minimum security Club Fed prison.
The documents, according to the indictment, revealed intelligence about future attacks by an adversarial group in another country; a liaison partner sharing sensitive information with the U.S. intelligence community; intelligence that a foreign adversary was planning a missile launch in the future, and a litany of other “TOP SECRET” information.
So I assume that the top secret folders actually had papers in them? I seem to recall a raid on Mar-a-lago where the FBI spread around file folders with Top Secret on them that were empty and always had been.
“The FBI’s investigation revealed that John Bolton allegedly transmitted top secret information using personal online accounts and retained said documents in his house in direct violation of federal law,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in October.
“The case was based on meticulous work from dedicated career professionals at the FBI who followed the facts without fear or favor. Weaponization of justice will not be tolerated, and this FBI will stop at nothing to bring to justice anyone who threatens our national security,” he added.

And so ends what was once a man who was considered one of the best Foreign Policy minds in the Republican Party. He couldn’t accept that once the Soviet Union collapsed, the world changed. He should have just retired from politics, written books and been an elder statesman. Now his reputation is ruined and he might end up in prison.
