Greetings people, this is the Angry Systems Administrator. You may have noticed that our humble little blog went down hard a little while ago. I was notified of an update to WordPress, to version 7.1, and so I ran the update.
Something went horribly wrong obviously and I’ve just spent the last couple of hours trying to bring the site back up, and was finally able to do so. I’m still running through everything, but it looks like several plugins weren’t compatible with the new version, one of which was Jetpack.
A couple of others, including our contact form also appear to be incompatible. I’m working my way through the plugins to see which ones still work and which ones don’t. You may see errors as I try and troubleshoot the site and bring it back into some semblance of normality.
One of the issues I’m having is that I am not a wordpress guru. I checked the update on a site that, to be honest, won’t be a loss if it does. I really need an actual developer to go through the databases and the code to clean out probably 15 years of old tables and other stuff.
I do apologize for the disruptions this caused and may continue causing.
