Good day all. Texas is in the middle of a senatorial campaign to replace the odious RINO, John Cornyn. Recently, Cornyn was retired in his primary race due to ill health. The voters were sick of him. Now the Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton is the Republican candidate.
Without question, Ken Paxton has some baggage in his background, however, his Democrat opponent, James Talarico, as a member of the Texas state legislature, voted for a bill to criminalize memes. Here are the details from TownHall:
Texas Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico once voted in favor of a bill that critics claimed would have criminalized the use of political memes.
I remember that bill. It was submitted by the former Texas Speaker of the House back in 2025. I say former speaker because his RINO ass was removed from that position. I wrote about that bill back when it was submitted. Thankfully, it was shot down and deservedly so. It was a blatant violation of the 1st Amendment.
In 2025, House Bill 366 of the Texas Legislature was launched as an answer to growing concerns over AI-generated deep fakes, according to Texas Scorecard. The outlet explained that, due to the use of overly-broad language, the bill would criminalize the publication of content that “did not occur in reality” unless the poster had included a disclaimer, leaving political memes in danger of violating the proposed law.
As I mentioned above, this would have run afoul of the 1st Amendment. The intention of the bill was to punish the enemies of the former Speaker of the Texas House who, as I recall, was getting carpet bombed with memes.
Violations of the Talarico-backed proposed law could have landed politically-active Texans in prison for up to one year. The shocking decision has raised questions from Republicans over how he planned to couple imprisoning political activists who failed to disclaim their content with his progressive stances on criminal justice.
Oh he would have had no issues whatsoever. Everyone knows that the Left can’t meme, so this was going to be used against the center/right people. Like all good Communist Totalitarians Progressive Democrats, he has no issue with jailing anyone who engages in what he considers to be “WrongThink.”
“The radical left has no sense of humor and is obsessed with stopping the rest of us from having fun,” RNC spokesman Zach Kraft told Townhall.
“But you do have to wonder who six-gendered-Jimmy thinks is coming to arrest you for a meme after he defunds the police and abolishes prisons.”
Oh that will be the heavily armed Progressive Mental Health experts and Social workers. Actually, I think the Left would send out their own private security to “Aid in the apprehension” of people who created memes.
Talarico has been desperate to moderate his startling voting record as the November midterms draw near. He has attempted to walk back many of his long-held stances on issues like gender reassignment surgery for children, energy production, and border security since securing his party’s nomination.
While I don’t think that Talarico is a DSA member, he certainly has not issues with most of their goals. The Legacy Media is doing everything they can to bury his previous positions. Many Democrats are now wishing they could have had anyone else, although they do seem to be drawing the line at that raving racist lunatic, Jasmine Crockett.
The polling companies are also doing what they can, publishing either fake polls and push polls, all saying that Paxton is in Trouble and that Texas is going to become a solid Democrat State in no time. The reality is that this is Texas. Elon Musk and President Trump have announced that they are going to send in resources. You can bet that Talarico’s radical ideas, along with his contempt for Texans, will be brought up and loudly. I really can’t see Texas sending someone to the Senate who hates Texas, Texas life and the Constitution. We shall see of course in November.
