Romney vs Crawley/Obama tag team

Good day all. I’ve gotten over my case of The Vapors due to the recent massive earthquake we had the other day. The Angry Systems Administrator filed a report for you so I won’t go into it. No, I’m going to talk about the second Presidential Debate.

As you know, I didn’t watch it. I have been reading the assorted reviews and after action reports. Romney continued showing his general competence, and Obama did improve the presentations of his lies and fabrications. Others have been going into that part of the debate and I see no reason to.

No, I’m going to talk about Obama’s able debating partner, Candy “Makes my skin” Crawley ((Candy Crawley)).

Crawley works for CNN ((The Communist News Network)) and was selected to moderate the last debate. There were questions from both camps about her when she said she was going to interpret questions from the audience. This was not with the two camps agreed to and they complained. As it turned out, interpreting questions wasn’t the problem. No, what actually happened was Crawley basically running cover for Obama.

While this isn’t that much of a surprise, (Everyone expected her to interrupt Governor Romney), what was surprising was her aiding Obama when Romney caught him in a major lie. This was in regards to the Al Qaeda terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate that killed Ambassador Stevens and several others. Romney was referring to the remarks by Obama in the White House rose garden. Romney said:

“You said in the Rose Garden the day after the attack, it was an act of terror? It was not a spontaneous demonstration, is that what you’re saying.”

Obama had no answer and asked Romney to continue, which he did.

“I want to make sure,” Mr. Romney said. “Get the transcript,” the president said. Then Ms. Crowley jumped in to do her own fact-check, on the spot. “It — it — it — he did in fact, sir. … He did call it an act of terror.” ((From the Washington Times))

Now allow me to make this clear. “Makes My Skin” Crawley jumped into the debate and answered the question instead of Obama. What’s worse is, she got it wrong. From the Washington Times:

The truth is, he didn’t. The day after the attack, he said only this: “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.” It took another two weeks before the White House would label the attack an act of terror.

I understand Romney was caught by surprise by Crawley’s intervention on this matter and also getting it wrong. Obama, on the other hand, looked relieved and the Obamabots ((Obamabots)) loved it. The only problem was no one else, including the “undecided” voters did. To top it off, Crawley was forced to walk back her “Fact Check” shortly after the debate.

In an article in the Spectator, Jeffrey Lord wrote that:

Liberal bias in the media has long ceased to be a news story. The success of Fox News, talk radio, and the Internet has ended the liberal monopoly of the media.

But this last debate with Candy Crowley may have a serious impact well beyond the story of yet another liberal moderator playing favorites.

In this inflammatory atmosphere? With such an incredibly potent issue involving the death of an American ambassador, two Navy SEALs, and a foreign service officer? Added to an economy that is so visibly in the dumper?

Candy Crowley’s behavior may make her the liberal media equivalent of what the Tet Offensive was to the Vietnam War — and President Lyndon Johnson.

For those of you to young to remember and to lazy to look it up, the Tet Offensive ((1968 Tet Offensive)) was an all out attack orchestrated by North Vietnam using the Viet Cong, ((National Liberation Front)) and elements of the North Vietnamese Army to win the Vietnam war. The attack was a complete failure and resulted in the destruction of the Viet Cong as a fighting force. The attack was a complete surprise to only the News Media. The military knew an attack was coming and was as well prepared for it as you can be under the circumstances. One of the big stories was Walter Cronkite ((Walter Cronkite)) deciding to editorialize against the war. When that happened, it was the end of the Johnson ((Lyndon Baines Johnson)) administration and he chose not to run for reelection in 1968. Mr. Lord refers to this as the “Tipping Point.”

The point at which a major historical event is tipped to a conclusion certain. Changing history and forcing the end of a presidency.

In the case of the Vietnam War, the Tet Offensive — which was actually thwarted by the U.S. military of the day — was presented to the American people as a military disaster. While the war formally went on until 1973, ending in a disastrous evacuation, the media portrayal of the Tet Offensive attack tipped the scales. The opposition that was once limited to far leftist student protestors went mainstream and eventually forced an end to the war — although not to Communist murder and oppression as was promised by anti-war activists. Two months and a day after all the negative media coverage of Tet in January of 1968 — Lyndon Johnson, the liberal darling of 1964’s Johnson/Goldwater race — dropped out of his race for re-election.

Tet was a Big Deal. No minor thing.

While I was just an Angry Boy back then I do remember all the protests and how the news media turned on the war. It wasn’t pretty.

Crowley’s conduct in contrast is a small thing. On the surface, just one more tedious example of liberal media bias.

But Gladwell’s point is that “ideas, behavior, messages, and products…often spread like outbreaks of infectious disease.” That “just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu” so too can one person launch a social epidemic.

The idea that the liberal media is deliberately trying to fix the 2012 election for Obama is now rampant, spreading across America faster than the flu in February.

And sitting at that debate moderator’s desk in such a highly visible moment in American history, Candy Crowley’s action in putting her thumb on the scale with the lights and cameras on and running in front of millions — may finally have been something wildly unintended.

The tipping point for the liberal media.

A tipping point that makes Mitt Romney the 45th President of the United States.

We’ve all seen how the Main Stream Media, also known as the Mainly Stupid Media and more recently the Obama Steno Pool has utterly failed in their job of reporting on the actions of the Obama administration. It’s so bad that they have aided and abetted in covering up major scandals that would have caused the impeachment of a Republican president.

The problem is that since the Vietnam War and Watergate, the MSM has been actively working to move this country in a direction most people don’t want to go. When all you had were the three television networks and the major newspapers, you generally couldn’t get all the information you needed. Now, with the advent of talk radio, Cable news, the internet, and bloggers, the monopoly held by the the three networks and a few major newspapers was broken.

This came to the forefront in the 90’s when a small web site called the Drudge Report broke a story about then president Bill Clinton fooling around with an intern named Monica Lewinsky. ((Monica Lewinsky)) It came out that several news magazines actually had the story and had sat on it for weeks. When Drudge broke it and how the story was being spiked ((Spiking a story)) by the MSM, people were outraged. This was really the start of the collapse of the Old Style news systems.

What is generally considered the “Final nail in the coffin” of the old style news systems was the Dan Rather ((Dan Rather)) report on then President George W. Bush’s service in the Air National Guard. ((Killian documents controversy)) This was a scandal about Bush getting special treatment and documents purporting this were provided to CBS. Rather and his producer, Mary Mapes ((Mary Mapes)), went to several document specialists to see about getting them authenticated. However, most of the specialists had issues with the documents and wouldn’t authenticate them. One person did and with that, Mapes and Rather ran the story.

Rather and Mapes both despised Bush and wanted to do what they could to get him out of office. The 2004 Election between Bush and John Kerry was very close, and a group of Vietnam Veterans who had served with Kerry created a web site called the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth ((SVBT)) which basically called into question Kerry’s record during the war. Rather and Mapes saw this as a way to “Balance the books” as it were. From Wikipedia:

The authenticity of the documents was challenged within hours on Internet forums and blogs, with questions initially focused on alleged anachronisms in the documents’ typography and content soon spreading to the mass media. Although CBS and Rather defended the authenticity and usage of the documents for a two-week period, continued scrutiny from other news organizations and independent analysis of the documents obtained by USA Today and CBS raised questions about their validity and led to a public repudiation on September 20, 2004. Rather stated, “if I knew then what I know now – I would not have gone ahead with the story as it was aired, and I certainly would not have used the documents in question,” and CBS News President Andrew Heyward said, “Based on what we now know, CBS News cannot prove that the documents are authentic, which is the only acceptable journalistic standard to justify using them in the report. We should not have used them. That was a mistake, which we deeply regret.”

The catchphrase that came out of that debacle was “the documents were fake, but accurate.” It sank the careers of Rather and Mapes and cemented the reputation of the Old Media as nothing more than shills for the Democrat Party. Crawley showed the country that the MSM will do and say anything to keep Obama in office and destroy the Republican party.

Now I am an absolutist when it comes to the First Amendment. (Free Speech) I do not want to see any regulations on speaking your mind put forth by some moron in congress. However, I do believe that sanctions can be brought against people like Candy Crawley that don’t involve the government. Right off the bat, utterly humiliating her and demanding her resignation from CNN, will do for a start. The best way to punish her and the others like her is not to buy their newspapers, watch their broadcasts and kicking Obama out of office.

Remember in November!
