Good day all. I hope you’re ready for your coming impoverishment. The Obama tax hikes are due to hit your paycheck January 1, 2013, and they will be massive.
Of course, the Republicans in the House and Senate are trying to avert this, but they have once again learned the lesson that Obama and the Democrats don’t care what happens to the economy at all. Their mantra is, as it always has been, “Tax and Spend!” Yesterday. Turbotax Tim Geithner went up to Capital Hill and spoke with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. After the meeting, where Turbotax Tim presented the Obama administrations plan, McConnell broke out laughing at it. Here are the details from the Weekly Standard:
The top Republican in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, revealed to THE WEEKLY STANDARD that he “burst into laughter” when Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner outlined President Barack Obama’s fiscal cliff plan yesterday. McConnell believes the plan is “completely unserious.”
Geithner unserious? Why would you think that of the tax cheat?
In an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, McConnell elaborated, calling Geithner’s water-carrying “a serious blow to his credibility.” He said the treasury secretary “ought to be embarrassed.”
“Did he outline what other taxes he wants to raise?” Hewitt asked McConnell.
In order for Turbtax Timmy to be embarrassed, he would have to feel guilty and have a sense of honor. The little twerp doesn’t.
“Yeah, you know, it’s all on the usual poll-tested, oil and gas, raise the estate tax, there’s hardly anything they missed,” responded McConnell. “It is a massive, whopping punch right in the nose to the American economy. I can’t imagine the Democrats would support it. I mean, Max Baucus, the chairman of the Finance Committee, is certainly not going to support the estate tax proposal, Mary Landrieu, the Democrats from Louisiana, is not going to support the gas tax. Neither is Mark Begich of Alaska, completely unserious, and here we are witnessing the President running around the country thinking the campaign is not over yet. And they’re presenting laughable suggestions from the Secretary of the Treasury. He ought to be embarrassed to be asked to go up here and do something like that. It’s a serious blow to his credibility.”
And again Senator, What credibility? This whole administration has zero credibility for anyone with 4 functioning brain cells, which lets out slightly more than half the country. (Those morons who voted for the Imbecile in the White House) Getting back to the articles in the Standard, just what was Geithner’s proposals to keep us from going over the fiscal cliff next year?
Geithner suggested $1.6 trillion in tax increases, McConnell says, but showed “minimal or no interest” in spending cuts. When congressional leaders went to the White House three days after the election, Obama talked of possible curbs on the explosive growth of food stamps and Social Security disability payments. But since Geithner didn’t mention them, those reductions appear to be off the table now, McConnell says.
In other words, “We Won, so shut up and do what we tell you.” typical of the Obama regime’s way of thinking. And it gets even better. Not only do they want tax rates through the roof, King Putt wants to waste more money on phony stimulus programs. After all, they’ve always worked so well in the past. Here are a few details from Reuters:
The Obama administration’s opening bid on Thursday in negotiations to avert a year-end fiscal crunch included a demand for new stimulus spending and authority to unilaterally raise the U.S. borrowing ceiling, a Republican congressional aide said.
Oh yes, not only do they want to hike taxes and waste more money, they also want congress to hand over the keys to the treasury so they can jack up the debt ceiling whenever the urge hits them. And knowing how progressives handle their urges, they’ll jack it up as soon as possible.
In the maiden bargaining session, Geithner, the president’s lead negotiator, proposed raising tax revenues by $1.6 trillion, congressional aides confirmed. That figure is in line with what Obama has said is necessary to achieve long-term deficit reduction of $4 trillion over 10 years.
The administration also sought at least $50 billion in new economic stimulus spending.
Obama’s negotiators also sought the ability to raise the nation’s borrowing limit unilaterally. Currently, Congress must approve an increase in the debt ceiling, and it was an impasse over that issue that brought the country perilously close to default in 2011.
I would say that there is no way in HELL the Congress will let the Administration have that authority. Frankly, I’m not even sure they can give it to them in the first place. Congress constitutionally controls the purse strings. They are the ones that approve the spending bills and requests from the White House.
The administration’s proposal would put off across-the-board spending cuts for a year.
In exchange the administration agreed to make $400 billion in spending cuts to entitlement programs, an aide confirmed.
Yeah, and if you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you. All of Obama’s promises come with a shelf life. The SCoaMF and the Progressive Democrats have absolutely no intention of cutting any spending at all, with the exception of the Defense Department. Closing that down is just fine for these transnational scumbags.
“The only thing preventing us from reaching a deal that averts the fiscal cliff and avoids a tax hike on 98 percent of Americans is the refusal of congressional Republicans to ask the very wealthiest individuals to pay higher tax rates,” a White House official said.
And here we have the standard Marxist refrain. Make the rich pay “Their Fair Share.”. What they fail to mention is that they pay the majority of taxes now. Obama and the Democrats could confiscate every single dime and all their assets and it might pay for the government for a year…maybe.
We do not have a revenue problem in this country. We have a spending problem. The out of control “entitlements,” (and I really hate that word regarding Welfare), have to be cut back. If these idiots in Washington don’t fix the structural problems, (And gutting the military is not the answer), then in a very few years, the “entitlement” checks, (In other words, my and yours hard earned money), handed out to, to be blunt, useless trash, will stop coming.
Right now, a lot of people are worried that the “Establishment Republicans,” That would be John Boehner, will cave in to Obama. These RINO’s are so terrified of not being liked, that they will agree to almost anything the Democrats want. The TEA party and true fiscal conservatives are fighting them tooth and nail. They understand that no matter what happens, the Republicans will be blamed. They figure they may as well be hanged for a ram as for a sheep.
Another thing that is starting to happen is a lot of people are saying, “Let it burn.” These people don’t want the economy to collapse, (Which will happen), but they feel it’s the only way to beat some common sense into the idiots who think Socialism is the way to go. Of course, when the house of cards collapses, it won’t be another recession, it will be a global depression. Europe is halfway there, and we aren’t that far behind.
If we have a “Great Depression,” I can almost guarantee that there will be an outright civil war in this country. You will have all the locusts rioting for their “Free stuff” and doing their usual rampaging and looting. This time however, they’re going to run into people who have had it with them. When the police fail to stop them, (Because they are outnumbered, shorthanded and have their hands tied by the politicians), citizens will band together and deal with them.
It won’t be pretty. To be blunt, it will be an outright bloodbath. Without a doubt, the federal government in place at that time, (If they did nothing to prevent the collapse), will fall. We may see states break away in simple self preservation, and possible form a new nation. One possible scenario that has shown up on the internet was written by Matt Bracken. He thinks everything will start to fall apart when the Welfare EBT cards stop working.
As you might expect, I have “A Solution!!” First, junk the current tax code and start from scratch. I like a flat tax with one or two deductions. (IRA and 401K’s are tax deferred, not tax free)
- Close the EPA
- Close the Energy Department
- Close the Labor department.
- Close Health and human services.
In fact, if it isn’t in the constitution as a duty of the Federal government, close it. Don’t give me any crap about “You want dirty water and air, sweatshops and people living under bridges!” All that can be handled at the state level, as it used to be. Kill the regulatory monster and unleash American ingenuity and we will kill this deficit in a decade or two. Of course, our Lords and Masters in Washington will never allow it. This is why I think we are heading for “Bad times” and they are going to hit a lot sooner than anyone expects.
About all us “Little people” can do is keep our heads down and our powder dry. We’re going to need it. Yes you can call. Writer and yell at our “representatives,” but they are either to afraid of losing their sinecures, are in utter denial, or want the collapse to happen so they can finally do away with that pesky constitution and really rule by decree. (Recreate the USSR in North America)
