Obamacare security? Try nonexistent!

We’re now only a couple of months away from the total enslavement of the American People to the Liberal Democrats idea of good government. In October, the “Insurance Exchanges” are supposed to open and people are supposed to load their personal data into them…or else.

There’s just one small problem. The Data Security on this is a joke. They are months behind testing the systems and apparently, those tests they are doing, well, the results are not what they hoped for. Here are some of the details from Reuters.

The federal government is months behind in testing data security for the main pillar of Obamacare: allowing Americans to buy health insurance on state exchanges due to open by October 1.

The missed deadlines have pushed the government’s decision on whether information technology security is up to snuff to exactly one day before that crucial date, the Department of Health and Human Services’ inspector general said in a report. As a result, experts say, the exchanges might open with security flaws or, possibly but less likely, be delayed.

rationing

But, but, how is this possible? The One promised us perfect medical care and all sorts of Free Stuff! You mean they might not be on schedule? What is the problem?

“They’ve removed their margin for error,” said Deven McGraw, director of the health privacy project at the non-profit Center for Democracy & Technology. “There is huge pressure to get (the exchanges) up and running on time, but if there is a security incident they are done. It would be a complete disaster from a PR viewpoint.”

The most likely serious security breach would be identity theft, in which a hacker steals the social security numbers and other information people provide when signing up for insurance.

Gee, why am I not at all surprised? You would think that the SCoaMF and his drones would consider what might happen if Boris and his happy bunch of hackers managed to break into the Obamacare database. All that data is just what they need to destroy people’s lives for fun and profit.

shooting fish in a barrel

If you think this is just a minor issue, think about what happens when banks and hospitals get hit by hackers. For a hospital or any other medical facility, the first thing that happens is the Feds come in and start looking what happened and how big a fine they can squeeze out of groups who lost the data. This is all covered under the HIPPA ((Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)) laws, specifically the privacy sections ((HIPPA Privacy)). Originally, the security tests were to be done in early June. As you might expect, they missed that date.

A test was to have been performed between June 3 and 7. But the delivery deadline slipped and the test – assessing firewalls and other security elements – is now set for this week and next.

“CMS,” concludes the inspector general’s report, “is working with very tight deadlines.”

The delays mean that the ruling by CMS’s chief information officer certifying the Obamacare IT system as secure will be pushed back from September 4 to September 30, a day before enrollment under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the law that established Obamacare, is supposed to start.

Do you really think this will be successfully completed inside the window? I can tell you from experience, there’s no way in Hell they are going to be ready.

“Several critical tasks remain to be completed in a short period of time,” the report concluded.

CMS spokesman Brian Cook said the agency is confident the Obamacare exchanges will open on time. “We are on schedule and will be ready for the marketplaces to open on October 1,” he said.

What that says to me, they will open these exchanges even if the security isn’t in place to protect the users information. So how is all this supposed to work. (Besides badly that is?)

When people try to enroll in health insurance starting on October 1 for insurance plans taking effect in 2014, their identity, income and other information they furnish with their application will be funneled through a federal “data hub.”

The hub is like a traffic circle for data. It does not itself store information, but instead has digital spokes connecting to the Internal Revenue Service and other agencies that will allow it to verify information people provide. Opponents of Obamacare have repeatedly raised concerns that sensitive personal information could be stolen.

And as you might expect, King Putt and his cronies don’t give a damn.

Before the hub or any other federal information system can open, a 2002 law requires that it obtain a “security authorization package,” which is essentially the roadmap for keeping out hackers and preventing security breaches.

Hey! This is Obama! The One! The Light Bringer! If he doesn’t like a law, he just ignores it. Why take a look at what he did for his buddies in Congress just last week! Yep, the tyrant always takes care of those who can slip a knife between his ribs. For the rest of us? Not so much.

Despite the tight IT deadlines Obamacare faces, the 2002 federal law on information security might provide an important loophole. The requirement that CMS’s chief information officer make a “security authorization” decision does not mean the CIO has to conclude that the data hub is impregnable. He can decide that, despite identified security risks, the hub can operate.

And that is the what will happen. The CIO will basically be told to authorize the system, “Or Else.” My guess is the system will be brought online with massive security holes, and that within a few months there will come the news that there has been a massive breech, initially denied and covered up by Der Fubar, followed by people who used this thing and had their identities stolen screaming to high heaven to Congress. Then there will be those, such as Yours Truly, how just sit there and say “HA HA! Told you so!

With the recent scandals regarding the IRS, NSA and other government agencies abusing the authority they have, and essentially using the data we are forced to give them to punish anyone they don’t like, do you really expect them to give a damn who gets hurt by the inevitable data breech? Of course not! Unless it hurts them directly, nothing will be done.

Obamacare is a boil on the Constitution, no matter what Chief Justice Roberts and the other Statists on the bench think. This disaster is already killing jobs and once it fully kicks in, will destroy small businesses and crush our already weak economy.

This is one reason of a myriad of reasons why this needs to be defunded then repealed. Currently there is a debate going on within the party of Stupid about trying to defund Obamacare. The Tea Party conservatives are all in favor, even if it means shutting down the government, and the RINO squishes are absolutely terrified that they will be blamed if the government does shut down. Those morons can’t grasp the fact that the majority of people in the United States want this ended and ended NOW! Every single squish RINO who won’t do what needs to be done, should be primary’d and retired in 2014.
