Harry Reid is ANGRY! GOP shrugs and throws him a shovel

Good day all. You may recall that I mentioned how the Democrats were trying to repeal the First Amendment in a post on the latest in the IRS scandal.

Well, Dingy Harry Reid brought the proposed amendment to the floor for a procedural vote expecting the Republicans to block it. However, the Republicans, in a moment of clarity, decided to let the proposed amendment come down to the floor for debate and now Reid is furious. Here are some of the details from the Washington Examiner:

After all his complaints about Republican obstruction this year, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid expressed frustration last night after Republicans helped guarantee a floor vote on a measure he supports. The Nevada Democrat has accused Senate Republicans of chicanery for voting to advance to the Senate floor a Democratic constitutional amendment allowing Congress to regulate all campaign speech and spending.

harry-reid-finger

How DARE those evil Republithugs actually help those fine Democrats by letting a bill advance for debate? Why, that’s just wrong! Don’t they understand that this was just meant to get the Progressive Liberal Fascist Democrat base interested in voting? How Dare they?? According to Politico, this is why they dare:

Many of the Republicans only voted for the bill to foul up Democrats’ pre-election messaging schedule, freezing precious Senate floor time for a measure that ultimately has no chance of securing the two-thirds support necessary in both the House and Senate to amend the Constitution.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The legislation needed 60 votes to advance and Democrats took a cynical view of the 79-18 tally. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the GOP’s tactic was simply to “stall” because it would eat up limited floor time that Democrats are eyeing for votes aimed at encouraging gender pay equity and raising the minimum wage.

I believe the phrase introduced by William Shakespeare is “Hoist with his own petard.” To say that the Democrats are unhappy that their “Cunning Plan” backfired so spectacularly is an understatement.

They know we’re getting out of here fairly shortly and they want to prevent discussion on other very important issues,” said Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). “I would love to be proven wrong. But if the end of this week, we end up getting 67 votes, you can tell me I was too cynical.”

suck it up Buttercup

Oh you won’t get those votes and you are right to be cynical Comrade Bernie. Your party has been screwing over the Republicans for years and now they have a chance to shove it down your throats for a change. Did you think they were going to pass up the opportunity you so nicely provided them?

But campaign finance is not a debate that Senate Republicans are shying away from — and their argument is being led by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who penned an op-ed for POLITICO on Monday that portrayed Democrats as fixated on “repealing the free speech protections the First Amendment guarantees to all Americans.”

Not surprisingly, a proposal as bad as the one Senate Democrats are pushing won’t even come close to garnering the votes it would need to pass. But to many Democrats, that’s just the point. They want this proposal to fail because they think that somehow would help them on Election Day,” McConnell wrote.

The-Good-Idea-Fairy-3

Of course the PLFD’s think it will be a good idea. They despise the Constitution of the United States and as we have seen with Dingy Harry Reid, have no problem with Der Fubar’s ignoring it. Now that the Democrats have written an actual amendment to strip people of their right of free speech, freedom of assembly and religion, it would be idiocy for the Republicans to save them from themselves, and they didn’t.

Democrats’ election-year motivations are not lost on Republicans, who argue that economic and health care issues should take up the remaining Senate calendar instead of the doomed constitutional amendment.

“It’s painfully clear that the majority leader’s priorities have everything to do with Nov. 4,” said Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas). “It’s all politics all the time, no matter what. So, I’m embarrassed to confront my constituents.”

Since Dingy Harry Reid and the other Progressive Liberal Fascist Democrats couldn’t care less about the country and only care about gaining more power for themselves, why not let them be themselves?

Ahead of the vote, Sanders and other pro-reform Democrats like Al Franken of Minnesota, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Tom Udall of New Mexico held a rally on the Capitol grounds with amendment supporters and supporting groups like People for the American Way, Common Cause and Public Citizen. The crowd was a solid mix of reporters and demonstrators with signs reading “Democracy is not for sale.”

Common Cause, Public Citizen and People for the American Way are groups that utterly despise everything that made America great, and also think the Constitution is an outmoded document that has no meaning. Unfortunately for them, most Americans disagree and think the Constitution means what it says. Harry Reid and the other moonbats fully expected the Republicans to save them from themselves.

Democrats’ argument would be made simpler if the GOP simply rejected the constitutional amendment on the first vote, rather than opening debate on it. But now the amendment will be on the Senate floor for several days.

The Republicans remembered something Harry Reid and the others have forgotten. That is the First Law of Holes. When you find yourself in one, STOP DIGGING! Not only did the Republicans not stop the Democrats from digging themselves deeper into the hole, they tossed them more shovels. Dingy Harry Greed is a vicious little thug and it’s nice to see the GOP finally put him in his place. Now the Republicans have something else they can use against the Democrats. Their desire to suppress speech they don’t like.
