Eric Holder’s next job?

Why, that might be as a justice of the United States Supreme Court. Alright, now that you have washed off your monitor, replaced your keyboard and taken whatever medications you prefer to prevent future bouts of projectile vomiting, this might not be as far fetched as you would think.

For the last few months, King Putt’s Court of jesters have been, in their typically unsubtle manner, pushing to get current justice Ruth Bader-Ginsberg to retire and step down. So far she’s having none of that. When it was announced that Holder was leaving, Rush Limbaugh was the one to make the statement that Obama wants to put his bestest, most corruptest buddy on the bench. Here is some of the transcript from Limbaugh’s web site:

There may be a Supreme Court vacancy, and I can see Barack Obama nominating Eric Holder to fill it, and it would be much easier for Eric Holder to make the jump from private sector law firm rainmaker after six years at DOJ to the Supreme Court, than from DOJ straight to the Supreme Court. I don’t know how much that would matter, but don’t rule any of that out. I don’t think there’s any scandal. I don’t think it’s Fast and Furious. I don’t think he’s worried about the Republicans investigating anything if they win the Senate.

The-Good-Idea-Fairy-3

Now Rush was talking about Holder first going back to a private law firm and then moving to the Supreme Court. Frankly, despite Limbaugh’s well deserved contempt for the current crop of Republicans, I don’t see a Republican Senate making him a supreme court justice. Holder his guilty of a number of crimes, (Granted he hasn’t been tried yet, but if he was, it’s off to the hoosegaw for him), up to and including the murder of a federal agent. If a Republican senate put Holder on the USSC, the base would destroy them, and I suspect a large number of donors would also walk away from them. If a conservative Republican wins in 2016, one of the things he or she will probably do is get an attorney general who will clean house, and probably go after Holder. He wouldn’t be the first AG to get tossed into Club Fed.

Flying pig

Now, if a vacancy should open up between now and when the next congress is seated, then I could see Der Fubar putting Holder name up for consideration. If the Senate does go Republican next year, it is well within the realm of possibility of Dinghy Harry Greed pushing Holder through on a party line vote after killing the last remaining bit of the filibuster. Of course that could also destroy the Senate, and possibly see the impeachment of Holder a few years down the road.

All this is speculation of course, and isn’t likely to happen. The fight if Holder were nominated during the lame duck session would be epic, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some violence occurred. It would be entertaining though.
