How about another worthless collage degree?

Good day all. I saw this one early this morning and my eyes rolled so much, I think they’re stuck. The University of Iowa has decided to issue a bachelors degree in the next best thing to underwater basket weaving, Social Justice.

eye roll

In the annals of really stupid ideas, this one literally takes the cake. In fact, if they actually charge students for this degree, then people need to go to prison for fraud. Here are some of the details from the Iowa City Press-Citizen:

The University of Iowa is looking to add a new bachelor’s program in social justice. If approved by the Iowa Board of Regents during Thursday’s meeting in Iowa City, the program would be the first undergraduate degree explicitly focused on social justice or human rights in any Iowa college or university.

A note. According to Campus Reform, these idiots approved of the plan.

“The proposed program will appeal to students who want a vocation related to helping others, or careers in government services or the nonprofit sector, but are not necessarily interested in teaching or social work,” the proposal states.

A vocation related to helping others. The only thing Social Justice Warriors do is work to suppress the freedoms of anyone they disagree with, which is pretty much everyone who thinks for themselves.

Over the past decade, there has been an increase in students who work as volunteers, activists and advocates and who are interested in careers with nonprofits and in government, UI officials said Wednesday during a meeting of the regents’ Academic and Student Affairs Committee in Iowa City.

Oh yes, we’ve seen such wonderful assistance as the riots in Ferguson MO, Baltimore MD, blocking highways and roads, threatening anyone people who disagree with them with violence….

Student demand for the program, said UI Provost Barry Butler, can be seen in the full enrollment in the university’s Justice For All living learning community as well as in the positive reaction to a recent first-year seminar on social justice.

So these are kids who are basically to stupid to do anything productive or useful, but want to have a nice degree to hang on their walls? I’m sure they will all have successful careers in the food services industry

Many of these students have found homes in the traditional majors at UI, according to the proposal. A growing number of students, however, “have expressed a desire to integrate academic work more deeply with anticipated career paths.”

Future career paths? As what? Rioters, looters and arsonists?

Those career options include working in nonprofits, advocacy groups, public health, education and social services.

Uh huh. I don’t think so. Consider the job interview when you are talking about your achievements.

“I helped loot and burn the racist, sexist Wal-Mart superstore, aiding underprivileged, racially oppressed African-Americans load their cars, liberated from white oppressors driving past, with big screen televisions.”

If I were the hiring manager my next response would be “Thank you, we’ll be in touch.”

The new program would be housed in UI’s Department of Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies, which has a history of “creating opportunities for real-world experience tied to classroom experience,” according to the proposal.

Oh God!

Enrollment is expected to be 25 students during year one of the new program, increasing to 110 students by year seven.

How much is this going to cost?

Because of its interdisciplinary nature, the program is not expected to require any new costs during years one and two.

Sure, and I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

Plans are to add a part-time lecturer in year three, depending on the need.

Part time huh? I have little doubt that the “Part Time” job will rapidly evolve into a full time tenured position with a large 6 figure salary. When they open the job requisition I’m pretty sure Melissa Click will be available by them. I can see one of her lesson plans being titled the moonbats in training how to call for some muscle to evict anyone who intrudes into your safe spaces.

Barking Moonbat

As I was writing this, I looked up the University of Iowa. I read their Wikipedia page and this place is moonbat central. They are tied in to the EPA’s Green Energy nonsense and they seem to be in bed with the United Nations. (UNESCO) I don’t know if they are taxpayer funded or not, but if they are, it’s time for the Iowa Legislature to take a long hard look at the University and see if they are getting value for their money. It’s fairly obvious that the students aren’t. The tuition run between $17K and 37K a year. For that kind of money, I want my kids, if I had any, to get a degree in something that was actually useful.

Learning how to block a highway, scream, rant and rave and print pretty protest signs, not to mention the rioting, looting and burning that goes hand in hand with Social Justice protests, is not going to get you a great job anywhere, or prepare you for the real world. Unless you plan on working for a terrorist group somewhere. I hear ISIS is hiring, but they do have some tough job requirements.
