Good day all. Over the weekend, President Trump tweeted out that he may have been wiretapped during the election. I wrote a post about this yesterday. As expected, the Progressive Democrats are denying this happened.
There has been a lot of back and forth over the possibility of the Obama justice department having ordered the surveillance of the Trump Campaign. We have former Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, denying that this happened, with the caveat, “As far as he knows.” Clapper has a problem with his credibility though. He has been caught lying to congress, so anything he says must be taken with a truckload of salt.
Then we have FBI Director James Comey asking the Justice Department to refute the claims from President Trump. According to USA Today:
FBI Director James Comey this weekend sought a public rebuke from the Justice Department of President Trump’s claim that former president Barack Obama ordered the surveillance of Trump’s phones prior to the election, a U.S. official confirmed Sunday to USA TODAY.
And the response from the Justice Department?
The Justice Department had not responded to the request Sunday after Comey’s extraordinary request to discredit claims of a plot to sabotage the president’s campaign. The official who confirmed the FBI director’s action, first reported by The New York Times, is not authorized to comment publicly.
Comey has even less credibility than Clapper does these days. His whitewashing of the crimes committed by Felonia von Pantsuit have turned out to be so blatant that Comey is essentially facing a full blown mutiny from the rank and file FBI agents. The Progressive Democrats like to blame Comey for blowing the election for Felonia, but the truth of the matter is, Felonia von Pantsuit should never have been the nominee in the first place.
In the latest news, President Trump has asked, (Demanded really), that Congress investigate and determine if the Obama regime did, in fact try to get the FISA court to issue warrants, and if so, what were they doing? According to Fox News:
The White House on Sunday called for congressional investigations into its claims the Obama administration meddled in the 2016 election cycle in an attempt to gather information on then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“Reports concerning potentially politically motivated investigations immediately ahead of the 2016 election are very troubling,” White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said in the statement.
“President Donald J. Trump is requesting that as part of their investigation into Russian activity, the congressional intelligence committees exercise their oversight authority to determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016.”
I really doubt that any proof will be found that Obama actually ordered this done. This isn’t like the Nixon Administration which had a tape recorder going in the Oval Office. There is no way that Obama or his boss, Valarie Jarrett would put anything on paper or into a computer. It would have been more along the lines of a wink and a nudge to whoever set this in motion. (Loretta Lynch?)
I can also see that Comey might not have been a party to this. Obama and Jarrett would have cut him out of the loop, not to protect him, but to keep him from interfering. They already didn’t trust him with the reopening of the investigation into Felonia late in the election season.
With the call by the Trump Administration for Congress to investigate the allegations that the Obama Administration might have abused their power, a few interesting things are happening. First, President Trump is NOT saying that his administration will investigate the allegations. He’s turning this over to Congress and asking that they do their jobs overseeing the Justice Department and all other agencies that might have had a hand in this.
Compare this to the previous administration. Not only did they not investigate potential wrong doing, they actively stonewalled Congress when they did try to find out what was going on. We have Fast&Furious, Benghazi, the IRS suppressing the Tea Party groups, not to mention Obama’s abuse of Executive orders and his outright ignoring Congress.
I have no idea what the truth of the matter is with this allegation. If a FISA warrant was issued allowing the surveillance of the Trump Towers and the Trump Campaign, I doubt actual microphones were hidden in lamps in President Trump’s campaign offices. That really isn’t done much anymore since people tend to use cellphones, texts and email instead of land lines. It’s far easier these days to snarf up data from computers, cell towers, etc. and a lot less risk of discovery. If proof is found that a warrant from the FISA court was issued, all hell is going to break loose.

I just read today (at AT?) that DOJ tried to get a FISA warrant not once but twice. It was granted the second time which was last October IIRC.
